Guncraft Sports in Knoxville has closed and Expert Firearms will open in Guncraft's former facilities. Right now the place is being remodeled and the new owners hope to open the doors Nov 22.

Good location, good facilities, the only indoor range in town... Under the new management it should be a recipe for a good and successful shop.

Hmm does anybody know if they are going to be honoring previous Guncraft memberships? I have one that wasn't due to run out until the end of the year.

They plan on honoring all memberships and range coupons from Guncraft.

If there's enough interest I'll see of they'll give free range time to THR folks for the grand opening, whenever that turns out to be.

Don't tease them about the "pink" white paint. It's supposed to be white under fluorescents, but it' still looks pink to me.

Are the new owners the same ones who own Coal Creek Armory, or did that not work out?

Pink, white, matters not to me... I just hope the next time I drop off a couple hundred rounds in the backstop, I can see my sights :)

Overhead lights would be nice...

It's neat to see all the Knox crowd represent :)

The range is getting special attention. New lights, new air handling (old paint :D ) Some discussions of adding armor to allow rifles on the outside lane, but that's not for certain.

2 gunsmiths to speed work up. New ultrasonic cleaning service planned so that shooters can drop off dirty guns and pick them up in 15 minutes all minty fresh.

Where exactly is...or was..or going to be...guncraft? I'm a student at Carson Newman, and i've yet to find a good range around the Jefferson City area...beacuse there isn't one. Whats the proxcimity of guncraft to the Jeff City area.... any closer than John Sevier Indoor range in sevierville?

I've been fortunate enough to spend my last two summers in the Knoxville area and spent some time shooting at Guncraft. It's at an excellent location, and it's good to hear that there will still be an indoor range around.

I do hope that the new place will still have the excellent selection of reading material that was previously available. I think I spent more on books than on any other items combined during my visits there.

Yes, but will they be a Hi-Point Stocking Dealer like Guncraft, and maintain the same extensive stock of pot metal gats? :D

I went shooting at the former Guncraft today. The sign is still up, but the new owners are the Coal Creek guys. I didn't ask if the new name would be Coal Creek Armory, but most of the staff were wearing CCA shirts and hats.

They just opened yesterday and there is much work to do before the store is 100% but the vibe is much better than before. It was actually pretty busy for a Tuesday afternoon.

They have the guns on display, but the accessory and ammo selection is pretty thin.

According to one of the workers, the Oak Ridge Coal Creek store is closed now.

Range fee is $10 (per hour I assume, not really sure). Yearly membership is $100 for unlimited range time, which is a very good deal in my opinion.

I also ran into a former owner/employee who is mostly retired. He is very happy with the new owners and their plans to improve the store.

The $10 is a flat fee for however long your shooting session runs whether it's 1 hour or 3 or more.

The new owner is the fellow that started Coal Creek. They have all they can handle right now just getting the new location started, but they are considering reopening the CCA location in Oak Ridge on more limited hours once they're comfortable with this one.

We have some kinks to iron out, but we're marching ahead and the doors are open. We have installed new duct work on the range for better ventilation, we are expanding the line of products both stores carried and still working on leagues.

Had a wait for lanes from 2pm until an hour before closing time tonight. Everyone seems very excited about the new look and where the store is headed.

Big truck load of new inventory coming in this week and I can't wait. We're going to be stocking all the cool toys you might expect. We should have 90% of our initial inventory placed by Friday, and then we're going to order some more!

(And to top it off we're starting to run low on range ammo. Thank god the ammo truck is coming on Monday with another 200 cases, maybe more!)

I dropped in after a really pathetic gunshow by Holloway in Knoxville.
As stated above, you can tell they have a mission and the place is taking-off.

I can see them as my all-weapons-needs local store in the near future!

"all weapons", you can say that again. We have a wide selection at the moment and can't say that we won't keep it that way. We're pimping everything from minty fresh Barrett M-107s to Civil War Springfields, and everything in between!

Full auto rentals. MP5A2, MP5PDW, M16A2 9mm, Uzi, Glock "18", Glock 20 and more to come in the very near future. Toys such as full-auto 10/22, FN-P90, Thompson and maybe even a Sten or two.

Other things we're doing include drawings each month for annual memberships, expanded member benefits, better accessory selection, quicker inventory updating, and NO COMPLAINING about special orders!

You might want to look at that "Springfield" again. I think it's a Colt Manufactured Special Model 1861 musket. A much rarer Civil War piece.

That big brown truck pulled up today and dropped off more guns and accessories! We're getting all the new merch. on the floor as quick as possible, but it seems as soon as one box is opened the contents are sold!

Training classes are starting mid-December. We are going to be offering basic firearms training, Tennessee carry permit, tactical pistol 1-2-3-4, tactical shotgun, tactical carbine, ASP baton, chemical weapons, armed security guard training, POST continuing education courses, several forms of martial arts, bodyguard training and just about everything you would care to know about shooting and personal protection with and without weapons.

Our instructors are the best in the area and are not your typical "I know everything and you know nothing" types. They are top notch and first rate and I'm sure if any of you decide to take any of the offered course you will be very impressed and satisfied with what you will learn.

Beyond that, we also have over $25,000 in books for your pleasure. An extensive selection of edged weapons, anything you might be looking for from a Kershaw Blur to a Steve Corkum original.

We are also offering one of our many meeting rooms for your club meetings and holiday parties. We are also offering range rentals for groups, which means you can rent two or all lanes for any gathering.

And, for all Highroad.org forum members we are offering discounts on memberships for the range. Just mention that you're a Highroad.org forum member when you're signing up and they'll give you the details and benefits of your membership.

We have an extensive selection of rental guns, including Class III toys such as MP5A2, MP5PDW, Uzi, M-16 9mm, Glock 18 and a few suppressed pistols.

I've run long, and it's close to midnight here so I need to get back to work getting the new items on the floor.
