Several CZ's (75, 82, 27) made in Czechoslovakia.
A CZ99 and an SKS made in Yugoslavia.
A Makarov made in East Germany; a Sig P226 made in West Germany.
A Mosin Nagant made in the USSR.

I think that's it, there may be others.

The comment was just to show that Bismarck unified Germany in 1871, following centuries of arms development.

I wasn't trying to even appear to be a specialist in German history. The non-essential details are best left to the academics.

Firearms made in countries that no longer exist are just "first-class cool" IMO, and even more so if they were military or law enforcement arms.

Italy didn't become unified as a country until 1861. Any firearm from that area prior would qualify.

All details of history are essential. When people believe otherwise, this is where revisionist history, intended or not, starts to creep in.

And what does Santayana say about history?

I would be okay just owning a West German Sig or something of that nature. Other examples provided are pretty cool too.

It has been mentioned, but I have a couple rifles made in Czech Republic or Czechia; formerly Czechoslovakia. I recently (last weekend) bought a .22 rifle marked "Yugoslavia". That country is now several including Serbia (Yay!) home of Privi Partizan Uzice ammunition makers. It is also the headquarters of Zastava firearms - who made my .22 rifle.
