This is awesome. The base gun is a Sig Cross. I would like to know the backstory behind why they spent $2500-3000 on rifle and suppressor and then went with a 1990s era M16A4 sighting system with carry handle topped optic. I still have an old M16A4 service rifle with a similar rear optic setup but would never have thought to transpose it over to a bolt action rifle. I guess if it ain't broke; don't fix it. I suppose there is something to be said for continuity of systems. I'll take it. Where do I sent the money?

The Army used to give some of us something similar to this 4X optic back in the day before flat top pic rail service rifles. I think it would work great on your Cross if you go back to iron sights.I did it because having to resight a rifle in is worth watching your buddies get worked up.
It actually works really well and might be the lightest option for an iron sighted 308, but that's not what I bought it for, so it's wearing a scope now.

Yes I saw that which is what made me think of the old 4Xs we used to use. Is that the Primary Arms 3X prism? I have a couple of the 1X but wanted to see how the eye relief was before I picked up a 3X.I've got a mini 3x prism on that carry handle if you look closely.
It usually lives on my AR carbine.

That doesn't make me cringe at all. I'm all for making those kind of modifications. In fact, I tried my hand at stippling a G17 that is very near and dear (sentimental) to me and it didn't really come out like a pro job by any means. This will make some cringe. I had a G19 stolen about 10 years ago. I replaced it with this one and 2 years ago I got my old G19 back. Rather than sell one of the G19's I used a Dremel to cut the grip down to take G26 mags on the brown one. While at it I ground off the finger grooves and re-stipled the front strap.
It is ugly as sin but works and takes any Glock 9mm magazine. From left to right the mags are
12 round MagPul
10 round G26 mag with +2 extension
15 round G19 mag
17 round G17 mag
19 round G19X mag
33 round G18 mag.

That was a little before my time but I've seen the pictures. What was worse was when they had us mount the old starlight scopes on our rifles.

I love the fork. Next time I build a 2x8 into a stock for a junk barreled action, I'm using a fork for the trigger guard.
I bet those were interesting to use. Now I need to find one to put on one of my select fire 20 in. rifles. Someone else beat me to it.We were still using the old starlight scopes into the early 90's while I was with the 1st Armor Div. in Germany. We mostly used them on the M60's and M2's at that time though. We would still occasionally mount them onto our M16A2 rifles at that time.
