However... I'd like to see them made by Springfield or Kimber, with a steel guide rod and some upgraded engineering that allows you to reassemble them without breaking into tears or going insane!

I'd also like to see something like the 1903/08 Colt in 9mm with a locked breech. That slender profile would be IT for concealed carry!

I'll second jimbo's choice of a 1928 Thompson M1 semi-automatic with the CORRECT barrel length......only Auto Ordinance's original .22 caliber semi-auto version, very rare with 30 round stick magazine.
