This is a follow up to another thread I started about gun schools. I was looking at Gunsite and they offer two courses, 150 and 250, that I am interested in. Neither of these classes has a prerequisite, and both seem to be targetted to people attending a class for the first time, though 250 seems more involved.

For those who have been to a Gunsite class, how are these two classes different?

The 150 is a three day class, and the 250 is a five day class. The 150 covers just the basic "Modern Technique of the Pistol" material -- essentially basic safety, presentation and marksmanship skills. The 250 class, with two more days, adds more work on mindset and tactics, including use of the simulators/shoot houses.

I'd recommend the 250. The additional material is interesting and helpful, and you really don't want to miss the simulator/shoot house exercises. Also, the 250 fulfills the prerequisite requirements for some of the advanced classes, while the 150 does not.

The 150 appears to be designed to be offered off-site where they wouldn't have their full facilities available. It looks like it was only offered once in 2009, and then it was off-site.

Why don't you email them and ask?

I was hoping to get opinions of the people who have taken the classes, not the teachers. The basic info is on their website. So I sort of wanted opinions through the eyes of previous students. Is it a problem to ask this kind of question here?

I agree with Fiddletown. If you're going to make the trip, go for the 250 course and additonal instruction and practical shooting. You won't regret it. I attended Gunsite before they had the abbreviated 150 course, but I'd not have gone for the 150 anyway.

Whole hog or none, I say. ;)

No problem. If you will notice though, I specifically was asking for opinions from students who had been from a Gunsite class:
