H&k Usp

Hey gunnermen:

I know I am knew and all but if you look a bit down the page, there is a USP vx XD thread that I started. A lot of useful info there.

Heres the Link: HERE

I don't care for them, personally. I had one and sold it. A bit heavy in the slide/doesn't balance well, and I'm not fond of the lever mag release because it's too easy to accidentally hit (being ambidextrous).

I own both a USP and P2000, but when it comes down to it, I can't pick one or the other.

The USP is a great platform, good for range shooting. A little slow for competition use, unless you get it worked on a little. The reset is horrible on the gun, very long reset, and the grip is large. For myself, I had to shift the gun to release the magazine, and I have pretty long fingers. The mag release lever is great though. The DA pull is long and stiff, and the SA is decent. The safety/decocker acts as both, so you can carry condition 1 (C&L) or DA/SA. Negative is if you carry cocked and locked you risk disengaging the safety too far and decocking the pistol on your first shot.

You'll have to try one out yourself. Oh yeah, get rid of the stock sights, they suck too. Otherwise, it's a good platform.

Not just one...several and love them all. Also have the P2000 in 9mm. My smallish hands love the P2000 but the others are great. Best you can buy IMHO. You must hold one to appreciate it. Fire one to fall in love with it. Never had one failure of any kind with any of mine, ever. Go to HKPRO.com and search to find a thread by Greg Bell about how he is trying to destroy his P2000. Amazing read.

Very reliable, well built guns. For awhile the only handguns I had were USPs. Grips are pretty uncomfortable to me though, especially in the fullsize frames.

Pick one up and see how it feels in your hand.

My wife really likes her USP compact 9mm. Fits her hand and the controls are within easy reach for her. It's a fine pistol, I enjoy shooting it as well.

Does anyone have an H&K USP pistol? Do you like it? I am thinking about getting one

yup, I have severals. Well it's very durable and reliable, what's not to like? the only thing I don't like, is when I post about range report here. I got no replies :D well there's nothing to talk about when your gun is so freakin' dead reliable.

I took a long time friend to the range with me today and we ran 250 rounds thru my USP .40f...not so much as a hiccup. Had a great time with great company and some trigger time on a good gun.

I've shot the usp45... it's a nice gun.
It's kinda like a sig/glock/XD combo...but it's got a trigger guard that I think kinda makes it tough for me to shoot it personally.

it's got a genuine "if you pull the trigger, I'll kill something" feel to it. Rapid fire and double-tapping on a USP45 is extremely easy compared to a glock or 1911 in a beginners hands. The recoil and trigger break seem to work in concert with rapid-fire movements.

I have the USP45c and really like it a lot

I also have the P2000 with the LEM trigger (as does my wife) and feel the same about it. It's a great carry gun.

The USP45c is the best shooting .45ACP I've fired. The full-sized USP is a little too big for my small hands, but the compact is just right.

Yup.

I have two. One has almost 10K flawless rounds through it, and I'm just starting to break in the new one.

I had a 9mm fullsize USP - liked it a lot - but it was too large for my hands. I still have a USP compact however - very nice gun :)

I just had it hard chromed :)

Here's my USP Tactical, bought it a few years ago and it has never had a problem (knock on wood). I really love the USP design always have, can't speak for everyone else here but mine is by far the most accurate handgun I own.

Since you mentioned you were looking at a .45 version, I gotta agree with Socalshooter on this one. My USP .45 is a great pistol, but it usually sits at home. I shoot my 1911s regularly, I just prefer them over my USP in .45

My USP 9mm though is a joy to shoot. Then again, so is the P2000.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the USPf .45 though. You really can't go wrong with this platform.

USP and P2000 Platforms

I have two HKs. One USP45 Tactical and one P2000 LEM 9mm. Both are really nice pistols; very accurate (particularly the Tactical) and smooth shooting.

However, I've slipped into the "Dark Side" or "Enlightened Side" depending on whom is speaking: I love 1911s so both of these superb pisols are for sale. The only H&K I'll be keeping will be a P7M8.
