I am looking for some pros and cons from folks who have shot both of these guns. I have shot the P320 but not the H&K. I will be buying one or the other but cannot decide right now. Any thoughts??

I've been looking at both of those as well as the Walther PPQ M2. They're all very nice but the Walther is the only one that's been around awhile.

I really like the modularity of the Sig P320.

The Yankee Marshal....

The Youtube.com gun channel host/personality The Yankee Marshal did a video about the HK pistol. In short he said; nyet! :D
I think he makes a few good points but watch it for yourself.
I like the P2000s & P30s in LEM format but I haven't shot either yet. Heckler & Kochs are a tad out of my budget right now, :uhoh: .

I think TYM bought a new SIG Sauer 320 pistol too but check his list.
The striker fired SIG gets a lot of good reviews but I'm not sure it's any better than the older P250.

All the three! (VP9-P320-PPQ).

Only two? (PPQ & P320).

If just one... (VP9).

Me....

I'd buy a long slide version of the Walther PPQ M2 in .40 or 9x19mm.
Or maybe a long-slide FNH FNS in .40 or 9x19mm.

PS: If you can't tell, I like these new long slide formats of these pistols. :D

I have to say nyet to is video. He admitted to only shooting 2 magazines through it.
He presented his opinions with over the top hyperbole and kind of acted as if they were gospel.

Several reviewrs like Tim at Military Arms Channel liked the ears on the gun..which BTW will be replaceable. Many also love the glowing dots on the sights...much better than just white dots.

Thanks for the input all. I still would like to fire the VP9 before I make my decision, I'm still saving right now so I'm sure ill get time to make and informed decision!

His opinions are his own, not everyone likes the same thing.

I will agree with one of his points. There are way too many mold lines on the pistols frame.
I have yet to use the ears racking, not sure if Ill ditch em or leave them when I do swap sights for 10-8's or Heinie Ledges.

No experience with the Sig, and Ive only owned the VP9 for a few weeks. I will refrain from leaning one way or the other..

That is one of the worst firearm review videos I've ever seen, be it his first impressions or not. It was based on his opinion of fit, finish, and overall value. Those are all subject to personal preference.

He completely neglected function, reliability, accuracy, and overall shootability, which are the most important parts.

I don't think the VP9 is revolutionizing anything either. As near as I can tell, HK is not saying it will. It's just their attempt to take a slice of that particular market.

I'm not even saying it's a better idea than the Sig, but I sure wouldn't let the guy in a video tell me anything. I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who starts and ends the video with extended depictions of him acting like a fool. I also have a hard time taking a firearm review seriously where I never actually see the gun being fired, just some guy who needs vallium standing there and yammering at me with heavy editing.

Firearm reviews should cover aspects of function, not personal preference. The OP should handle both guns, and if possible, shoot both guns before making a decision.

I nearly purchased a full size P320 a couple months back. It really felt good in hand and was fairly handsome for a polymer striker fired gun.

I ended up getting a 92fs. Totally different, I know, but I already have a couple of striker fired full size guns, and the Beretta fit my needs better.

I still may get that SIG one day, though. It really was very comfy. However, like rusty said, I'm really partial to the longsilde version of the FNS line. I may opt for one of those instead;)

Tongue firmly in cheek....

Don't view TYM videos & expect a in depth review or straight laced gun/shooting industry/political commentary.
He tends to season his clips with humor(trust me, he's toned down from when I first started watching). The Yankee Marshal is not the final say on any weapon or 2A issue but he is entertaining(to me).
Other video/gun channels I watch include Gunblast & Hickok45. They seem to be laid back, easy-going "Southern Gentlemen" :D but they also shoot-handle boat-loads of modern guns(and yes Im a bit jealous, :fire: ).

I see TYM's points about the Heckler & Koch VP9 but others may have a different take. ;)
Say what you will about the new VP9 series, at least it's not a Walther PPX, :barf: .

The Trigger is FAR BETTER than the long DA only trigger in the P250, the 320 feels far more robustly built too. The 320 is a true duty level handgun, I can't imagine any police officer wanting to carry a 250. Wether it's better than the HK is a different question. I'm not trading my Glocks for either one, because I personally like the huge level of support and consistency of the Glock platform. And I carry in .45, something neither Sig nor HK offer in that type of a configuration.

As an HK fan and a SIG fan, my vote goes to the HK VP9 over the Sig P320.

IMHO, they're not even close.

Over on SIGforum there is a post by forum member Jagman comparing the two as he either owns both or has ta least tried both.

I have the VP9 but have not tried the P320 yet though certainly would like to as I am reading a lot of very positive reviews about it.

Good luck!

I'm most jealous of Hickock's shooting range. It appears to be a great setup, especially for pistols and shorter range stuff. Nice backstop, visibility, and targets. And there's just something cool about how he sometimes reloads his mags with ammo from a cereal bowl.

Since I haven't handled either handgun (not much time to get out to gun stores lately), I can't offer much to the discussion. But given my very positive experience with my HK P30, I'd definitely lean towards the VP9. Heck, the interchangeable grip panels alone make it worth it in my book.

Can't help you with the Sig but the VP9 is really awesome. I have only had mine for a couple weeks but it's an incredible shooter. It's extremely accurate and very easy to shoot. The 9mm doesn't really have a lot of recoil, granted, but the VP9 is soft shooting even for a 9mm. The trigger is really exceptional IMO. Far far better than a Glock or S&W. It's pretty comparable in feel to the Saliant Arms Glock I got to dry fire [and only dry fire] at the LGS.

I will admit that I'm quite the HK fanboy so that this with a grain of salt. But out of the box on the very first range trip I was shooting the VP9 as well as I shot my USP45 Tactical with the Match Trigger.

Like Highcaliber, I am a fan of both SIG and H&K and have several of each. I akso think the H&K VP9 is a much better pistol than the SIG P320... It ain't even close.

I looked into the P320 a little more last night. The most interesting part of that firearm to me is the modularity. Depending on how expensive components are for it, I may get one. Sig also plans to release the 320 in .45ACP in addition to the 9mm .40 and .357SIG it already has. One gun in 4 calibers with 3 different sized frames sounds pretty nice.

I just got to shoot my oldest brother's VP9 again about an hour ago here at my range and it was great. The fit and feel for me is there. I have not shot the P320 but have looked at them closely but not impressed with this gun. The trigger is very good but the H&K is much better in over-all quality; and the accuracy of my H&K pistols are a notch above my SIG guns.

I am in the same boat, I have several 9's and like them for capacity and size. I also almost pulled the trigger on the VP9 last week, actually left the store to get my cash, but had second thoughts and didn't follow up. I did call the store to tell them to not hold it for me. How many plastic 9's do you really use?
I just read so many hum drum reviews on it that I may go with the PPQ also for the money and time on the street. Aside from more reviews saying how dead on it was.
The VP reviews more or less, say "why not" for the money. But call it a more duty type weapon, not a dead on sniper pistol with the trigger of the Walther.
Having nearly 35 years of shooting 9mm, I want the dead on Tupperware, otherwise I will go with a 1911 style steel gun.
I only shoot 9mm and 45 anyway so a 1911 double stack, or single is still in contention, and for a grand, "which is my price range", I should be able to get a more accurate gun.
Where I live it's real hot, so buying and carrying are 2 different things. I almost picked a 340PD, on slickguns but am getting too old to experience that pain again.

The striker fired SIG gets a lot of good reviews but I'm not sure it's any better than the older P250.

The trigger on the 320 is much nicer. It's what the 250 should have been to begin with.

As to the 320 vs VP9, I've yet to hold a Sig that doesn't feel like a brick in my hand compared to my P30 or my HK45.

Is it too complicated for you? Well, I got bad news for you.

All the three! (VP9-P320-PPQ).
Only two? (PPQ & P320).
If just one... (VP9).

However, I prefer my fav Steyr L9-A1
