I picked up 3 C&Rs yesterday, I'm looking for the approximate age of this H&R .38
S: E115XX. 1st patent date is 1886 and the last is 1896.
It's all original including the grips and it functions fine. It cleaned up well.
I'm also looking for a few rounds for it.

Somebody ought to be able to telll you something, carbine95, because back in 2014 this book came out: https://www.amazon.com/Bill-Goforth-1871-1986-First-Hardcover/dp/B00RWS4AKE

It is quite encyclopedic, the result of many years of work by the late Bill Goforth and the late Jim Hauff, both first class gentlemen, with help from many posters on many forums like this. It will describe your gun. But as Colonel Harrumph says, you will need to put up some pictures, because some of the difference between variations are small.

(The H&R book does remind me a bit of the book report, supposedly written by a fourth grader: "This book told me more about frogs than I wanted to know." But of course, that is what really dedicated collectors thrive on. :))

I have 11 pcs of OLD .38 S&W ammo that I will donate to your cause. It is live so cannot be mailed and UPS will cost me about $10.00. If you're willing to pay the shipping, I'll send 'em to you.
Have a handful of old IJs and Smiths, so I understand your fascination with elderly revolvers.

That is greatly appreciated. I was trying to send you a PM but can't seem to find it. Can you send one to me and I'll square up with you?
