Usually, to dream, one must be really tired. Releases your subconscious. Second night in a row; but this one I remember.

Dynamically involved ccw, an apparent woman, and honor.

I was VERY self-consciously packing; deceived by an apparent woman; and on the horns of a dilemna as a result.

Naturally, my dreams end without resolution; exposing my back-burner issues. I can learn from these if I can remember the dream.
This one really surprised me in it's revelation. Very Freudian.

Now that the fog has lifted, I'm wondering what insight others gain from their dreams involving guns; just how pivotal an issue are they? Is there a doctor in the house?

i recall only a few dreams involving guns.
the first was many years ago, and was set in an old hospital. someone was chasing me with an automatic rifle and shot me in the back as i was running down the stairs. i could feel each round enter my back as a hot burning flash.
didnt learn anything from that dream, except to run faster.

another was set in a place where i was on a security detail and was armed with my M40. we were searching out the enemy on a train, and we found them on the upper deck, asleep. i walked over to the first one and pulled the trigger. repeated until the seven in that train car were taken care of. then i realized there was a couple of the enemy not accounted for, and i only had three rounds left. my backup hadnt arrived yet, and i didnt want to run out of ammo before mopping up the last few.
this dream hopefully helps me to realize that if i am on such a security detail in future dreams, i will likely be able to carry magazines with normal capacity for LEO. but in the meantime, i always have plenty of spare magazines on hand.

Uuuuuuuhhhhhhhh?????

What's an apparent woman? Is that someone you thought was a woman, but when you got "her" into bed, she had a thingy?

I've got to say I've had some pretty effed-up dreams, but that's a new one on me.:D

On the other hand, I think we've all had the "gun fails" dream. You know the one where the BG is coming at you. You draw and try to fire, but one of several things happens.

1) Gun jams
2) You can't seem to make the gun fire, even though you know you're doing things right.
3) Gun fires, but has ZERO effect.

Number 3 is the worst. BG is coming at you. You draw and fire. You know you hit him, but he doesn't react at all. You keep firing until the slide locks back. He's 10 feet away, still coming. MOVE!!! Drop mag...reload...drop slide...repeat.

God, I hate that dream.

Glad Im not the only one who has them dreams!

Ever have the one where you are attacked and you pull out your PPD (Personal Protection Device and no, I dont mean the other kind) and bits and pieces fall off it. Semiautomatic, the magazine falls out, reload and then the slide pops off, etc.

Or where the ammo you have to reload with is the wrong caliber?

I had the wrong caliber dream before.

I remember one dream some time ago where I pushed some girl I was walking with into a doorway of a shop and took a bullet in my knee. I drew my 1911 and fired towards where I thought the shot came from. I had the feeling that I had to protect her. When I woke up, my knee was aching, but that was due to an injury (not related to the dream of course).

My most vivid dream, not gun related (but injury related), was that I was swimming in a pool and I could smell the chlorine. It was significant since I had bilateral femur fractures and had not been able to get out of my hospital bed. I suspect the chlorine smell was from some cleaning agents from the hospital. But for me, I was able to swim.

Dreams are like movies you star in. Sometimes with great special effects and sometimes with dumb screenwriters who write in the wrong caliber for your gun.

Never had a dream about "an apparent woman" while being on the "horns of a dilemma". Hope I never do!:)

Hey...

Do all these FTBRG (Failure To Be a Real Gun) dreams mean you should shed yourself of those unreliable things (a future reality looms)? If so, be advised that I have no such dreams... please make arrangements to send them to me. I'll split the FFL fees. Oh - and please send the toys and doo-dads these machines are used to playing with, okay? Thanks. :)

I do dream often, but haven't had a firearm related dream... yet.

Yea, I once had a dream where a zombiefied Sarah Brady and Diane Feinstein were coming at me, and I empted 10 rounder after 10 rounder into 'em... no effect......

I too have had the "gun malfunction/no effect" dream countless times through the years, even before I had ever bought a firearm. Hmmm...not to get all "Froodian" or 'nuthin, but I wonder if this dream is more common with men?

I suspect that it is...

I've had dreams that involved guns. I can't remember a single one that was pleasant.

Dreaming occurs when you achieve the deep sleep state characterized by REM where sleep is most beneficial to your body.

I usually have very delightful dreams, full of activity, color and mystery. Sometimes I dream about what I was thinking about at the end of the day, so I try to "program" them by thinking about what I want to dream about. Sometimes that works!

Don't recall ever dreaming about guns, though.

I hate the dreams where my real gun turns into a toy ... and I'm shooting at the badguy making gun noises with my mouth and he's all "ha ha you missed me!" Then you discover you've lost your pants too

Now for the weirdest gun dream I ever had; I dream that my wife and I where in vacation in Houston and decided to carry guns since we were in Texas (remember, this is just a dream). Anyway, the hotel we're staying in is also hosting a big Brady Campaign seminar. We're in the parking garage and we see some woman being attacked by a guy with a knife ... he's trying to take her purse and he's knocked her down and is on top of her ready to stab her when my wife and I open fire! We both tag the guy and he falls over and we go over to the woman and discover it's Sarah Brady! ... not sure what that means.

I think your dream ^^^ just became a nightmare...unless she went back to convention and announced she is coming over to our side.

I , like BH have peaceful dreams, for the most part I too 'retire ' for the evening on a positeve note. I just "fall off cliffs" when sleep depraved and/or a serious life thing occurs.

you know how you always hear that if you die in your dreams you don't wake up... not true I had a Falling dream earlier this year and I hit the ground from a couple of thousand feet made a big ole smokin' hole in the ground, Mub, Blood, and Guts everywhere,
and I always dream in color. sometimes brighter than others but it is always in color.
I am just glad they were wrong about the dying in your dreams thing:cool:
