$1,000 for a book? I wonder what's going on there.
At some book selling websites there is a pricing program that can be used so that, if your rival is getting $X for their copy, you should be able to get $X + $0.05 easy for your copy and bumps your price relative to your rivals'. A nickel more for your whole catalog is small change but can add up. BUT if the rival has the program watching your prices and bumping, there is a virtual internet price war that gets hilarious for by-standers. I have seen a book not to be named, often regarded as the worst ever writ, bid up to $7,000 between two sellers. They don't get into the opposite: a price under bidding program war. I would not mind buying a crap book if I could get a $7,000 credit.
