History major checking in...

"Back in 1835, when Halley’s comet was overhead, the same night those men died at the Alamo, they say Samuel Colt made a gun

The battle at the alamo was fought March 6, 1836
Too bad the defenders didn't have colt peacemakers available to back up their single-shot rifles, ( or Henry repeaters for that matter ) many of them would probably have lived to a ripe old age if they had.

I personally don't believe in ghosts,

I do, through quite a bit of family experience. Luckily nothing personal has happened with me yet, but I'd hope I'd have enough sense not to waste some perfectly good Gold Dots on a "full-torso apparition!" :D

The house some of my family lived in in PA though, which was also occupied by a downright evil poltergiest...! :uhoh:

I do pretty good with "bumps in the night," sudden noises, ect. My @#$! toilet seat will NOT stay in the upright position (musta been designed by a woman), but it usually won't fall right away.

IE - do "#1," go in next room to get on computer, half an hour later jump at a very loud "BANG" from the bathroom as the heavy seat crashes down on the porcelean!

Haven't blasted away at the bathroom yet! :D

...May be because it's hard to draw while sitting Indian-style here on my laptop! :what:

A sawed off cobalt blue steel, hairline trigger, walnut stock, double-barreled 12 gauge Remington shotgun, available at S-Mart!
And a chainsaw to replace my right hand.

If not, a proton pack and traps.

Or a vacuum cleaner.

some holy water, a bible and plenty of towels to clean off the pea soup:neener:

Firearms, bullets will not work on spirits, ghosts. You need a special person to handle this situation.

I was a non believer didn't think twice about ghost stories BUT THEN I moved into a older house and started to have strange things happen, Lights turning on I kept on hearing my bathroom door open and it was always just after we would lay down in bed so I just dismissed it coming up with reasonable explanations like the light switch was loose and would slip on or there was a draft coming from my attic fan that opened the bathroom door. Then one night it all changed I was woken up by the unmistakable sounds of footsteps walking across my squeaky hardwood kitchen floor I grabbed my pistol from the nightstand opened the bedroom door and started to investigate. I had a Maglite in one hand and a Glock in the other as I was slowly walking down the hallway I saw IT a full size shadow of a person standing in the family room I yelled out STOP WHO ARE YOU SHOW ME YOUR HANDS I HAVE A GUN the shadow then took off at unbelievable speed straight into the wall then POOF it was gone everything was over. I absolutely know what I saw and there is no modern scientific explanation for it. This experience changed my life no person can ever change my mind on what I witnessed with my own eyes that night. The noises still kept up over the next few years in that house but nithing like what happened that night. I used to be hesitant about telling this story but I think now everyone should be open about there experiences one day we might figure this stuff out you never know.

There is a good TV show called GHOST HUNTERS on the SCI-FI channel its about people that try to debunk ghost stories or haunted houses there are a couple very good episodes with some good stuff caught on video. You should watch it it might change you beliefs.

JD Lion, When I said "I personally don't believe in ghosts." I mean't by that, I don't believe in spirts of dead people that come back to haunt the living. When you die you either go to heaven or hell.
Religion is a touchy subject for some here, but, since we are talking about my beliefs, here is what I think in more full detail. Some of these things reported can be explained naturally. Others where people actually see "ghosts" and floating objects and such, I would say are one of two things, imagination running away (Many people you see on tv documentaries are often crazy looking) OR demons posing as dead people (ghosts). I believe in God, I also believe there is a devil who has his own legion of angels doing misdeeds on earth and leading mortals astray and tormenting them. Such things are indeed recorded in Holy Scripture.

I believe most of these people, including you, are seeing something. I believe you saw something unique that night. BUT I don't think it is the spirit of a dead person come back to life (I think it is something much more dangerous if you let it, or downright harmless if you know the Truth that sets men free).

"hostile ghosts" I would say are tormentors of the lost and drawing attention to themselves away from God.

"Friendly ghosts" that are "non violent" I would say are likewise setting themselves up to be worshipped (by that I don't mean bow down literally and pay homage to it, but many people get obsessed with it and even call seeing them "spiritual experiences".) Bottom line, from a Christian worldview, they are drawing attention away from Christ and towards another false idol. If the supernatural event is not pointing to Christ then it is a lie. (Remember heavenly angels always came as messengers of the Lord and made that perfectly understood)

Anyway,
Back on topic. So you pulled a gun on a ghost! Wow. Like I said, I believe you saw something alright. I would probably have urine running down my leg after I saw that.

I read of an incident in Jefferson, Texas in which a man got into his car and found a ghost man sitting right next to him in the passenger seat smiling at him and fading away :what: (lot's of eerie ghost stories in Jefferson, especially at it's downtown hotel)

I thought silver did the job, not salt. Unless you can handload some silver bullets into autoloader cartridges, you'll probably need a revolver. Preferably a cheap revolver... since I hear that silver's harder on the rifling than lead. Or a big, overbuilt beast... something in .357 magnum firing .38 special silver bullets.
Alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives - which one of those is the best for ghost removal?

In the spirit of the season (and shameless plugs) for a gunnut's eye view of monsters and things that go bump in the night, buy the book Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia when it comes out at the end of the year. :)

Anybody remember the old Round Table mega-thread about ghosts? Man, that thread was awesome. Some poster's experiences were mind blowing.

The closest experience I have to anything possibly ghost related happened the day my girlfriend's dad died. The porch light on their house turned on and off that night without explanation. Hasn't happened since. Whether or not it was him, I will never know, she believes it was and I wasn't about to argue.

Still hard to talk about... he was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and friend of gun owners, 58 is too young to go :(

How about silver/plastic sabots...? ;)

That way you could use a lighter bullet and save on the cost of silver.:)

Silver bullets, salt bullets - bah! Too much work to figure it all out....

Just gimme my PROTON PACK and I'll be set! :D

Don't look at me like that! It LOOKS like a harmless "fodder shock" - but it was HAUNTED I tell ya! :p :what:

"Why worry? Each of us us wearing an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back..." :uhoh:

So my girlfriend wants to go to the haunted house (one for adults, not a kid's haunted house) in our area.... I never leave the house without my Sig. I'm a little nervous about going into this place, since I have a very fast draw. I'm affraid some guy's going to come around the corner with a chainsaw :what: to scare us or something, and I'm going to "neutralize the threat"... Perhaps I should leave the gun in the car, just this once

hehe this is a good one also, if I were a LEO I would make sure noone else got hurt then just go get some donuts cause seriously how do you file a report for that..."guy was shooting at an aparition, he was found to be completely sober and at the time mentally compitent." "Found goo however from and ectoplasm, no ectoplasm found though".

*Expvideo* leave the gun in the car...

Using a 500 magnum with Winchester 400 gr. Silver tip hollow points (blessed by a priest) will do the job; the flame along with the blast will send them into the next dimension.
Seriously,
I believe, their are things that can not be explained, also I believe their are explanations to certain happenings. But a firearm, bullets are not going to help, joke or no joke If law enforcement is going to get involved in going to one's haunted house, per say. You'll be relocated easily into a nut house. You will not have to worry about paying that existing mortgage. When you tell them you mistook a spirit, ghost for an intruder, shooting at thin air, shadows. None the less at Halloween, even if it's not Halloween. You have a better chance of helping the situation by ordering a cardboard cut-out of Elvira and placing it in your home, than using a firearm...... Really. Better yet, use the Roman Rituals, no pun intended.
In case of hearing noises and preparing for a human to be involved is one thing. Seeing spirits, ghosts, hovering shadows and shooting at them is another story.
Which comes to....Are their really vampires, spirits, ghosts? I say, yes. But, not the kind that Hollywood portrays them as. Are their people that drink blood, human blood? Their are some criminals that have done this. If one was to use that word, it would be fair.
There are phys wards; patients sharpen their teeth with files, (past tense) to create “fangs”.
Their are some people that will not believe the statement I just presented. But as they say, seeing ….not all the time though… the eyes can fool you too … is believing.
Same thing for spirits, ghosts. Their are out of body experiences; near death, technically dead, come back to life accounts, documented by the medical profession. Certain things of these experiences have a pattern, others don’t. It’s possible, that they can exist. But, not the way Hollywood portrays it as.

I agree. I believe in the supernatural. I just believe that there are rules in place that keep it from interacting with us most of the time. And I certainly don't believe the spirits of actual people reamin on earth at all after they die.

I am also going to a haunted house for adults. It's near Detroit, so I am definately going to be carrying.

Man enters my home, armed with negative intent.....45auto
Dog enters property, my kids at risk.......................12gauge
Vampire knocks on door........................................Don't invite him in
Werewolf breaks in at 0200 for food........................Silver ring dropped in 12ga

Ghost, goul, or other paranormal "things".................I'll probably curl up in a ball in the corner sobbing and sucking my thumb.:neener:

OH hell no, just get a paintball marker, inject the balls with holy water (or have the paintballs blessed by a good priest, ) and pop the suckers with them..... failing that, bludgeon them with a bible.

:neener:

this is and isnt gun related. it isnt because its about my house and the land i live on. but is because its where my shooting range is also. along time ago. like early 1900s to 1930s, 2 people have died on the kitchen table while being operated on by the local doctor, that came to the house. then in the late 1800s. this land had the only tree in the area. so it was the hanging tree to hang people.

but i havent seen a ghost or heard unexplained footsteps. i live on my grandparents farm. grandpa died and grandma moved to town. my grandma still has that kitchen table. i havent told my girlfriend that one because if i did. she wouldnt go in that house. it creeps her out enough about the farm house having the history it does. but eating at a table 2 people died on. would totaly freak her out.

Werewolves vs WW ST's

Dunno - the jacket may be aluminum and if they hit a werewolf they might not kill him.

But if I bean him with a couple out of my 686+ COM & they blow a pieplate sized hole in him, don't ya think he might decide he has pressing business elsewhere?

I loved that thread. I wish I had saved it before the round table had been deleted. That thread caused me quite a few sleepless nights, but I really wish that I'd kept it, regardless. I agree -- it was awesome.
