Hammer Time Part 1 : H&R Model 676 .22 : IMG_2801.JPG ..Henry lever .22 : IMG_3066.JPG .. Henry single shot .308: IMG_7560.JPG .. Classic traditionalism in firearms.
Iver Johnson Champion 16 ga. : IMG_1853.JPG ..Marlin 30AS .30-30: IMG_3207.JPG .. 1943 Walther P38 9mm : IMG_9119.JPG .. Guess I've always had a soft spot for external hammers but didn't realize it until later in life. Not that I don't like internal hammers or striker fired stuff. But hammers are ultra cool.

@Armored farmer, I don't know where you live, but I want to live there. You have some nice backgrounds in those photographs. Anyway, what is the single-action Ruger in the second photograph?

As to hammers: I prefer them on my handguns. I sold an HK VP9 and replaced it with a P30 due in no small part to being able to place my thumb over the hammer while holstering.

Maybe it was the Daisey Spittin' Image bb gun, or the BL22, or maybe the Ruger Single Sixes from my youth.....but I have recently come to realize that I am drawn to guns with hammers.

Does anyone else appreciate the old-school exposed hammer guns?

Does a bear like fresh honey from the nest?

In my advancing years I have grown weary of the mush that is labeled "striker fired". I get enough mush for breakfast.

Out of all the handguns I own, only 4 do not have an exposed hammer. I have 3 Kel-Tec's - 3AT, PF9, and PMR30 and my Glock G44. The rest of my pistols and the two revolvers have hammers with most being single action.
