Well, now that we have n=20 I figured I could start to generate some preliminary results. Still a pretty small sample size, we're but getting there. Of course the exact way people measure also could lead to some inconsistencies but since I'm not applying for a research grant here I think we'll just have to go with what we got.
Trigger Finger Length Avg = 4.31" St Dev = 0.28"
Spread Avg = 9.29" St Dev = 0.62"
Palm Length Avg = 4.49" St Dev = 0.23"
Palm Width Avg = 3.77" St Dev = 0.36"
These numbers, so far, indicate my preconceived notions of my hands were true. I thought I had small or average hands but relatively long fingers (4.4" trigger finger) and the numbers so far seem to indicate I was correct, although well within one standard deviation of the mean. My fingers are slightly longer than average, but not crazy long, and my overall hand size is actually slightly below average.
One person did mention that their middle finger and ring finger were significantly longer than their trigger finger, and I must say, I never noticed before, but mine are too (middle finger about 3/4" longer than trigger finger, and ring finger about 1/2" longer). Interesting.
From the poll results it is leading me to believe that there is a common perception that our hands are bigger than they are, but a lot of it seems to be due to the size of gloves we buy. And I will say I buy large or XL gloves myself. I wonder if there isn't some sort of "vanity-sizing" issue going on here or something, just like with women's dresses.
