Handloading the .32 H&R Magnum

is almost hard to find a 32 H & R mag here in south alabama, either those that have em dont turn loose, or not selling well here. Was looking for a charter arms 32 H & R for my lady, but had to settle for a 38 special.

I'm not fond of shooting shorter length cartridges in a longer chamber with cast bullets due to build up of lead alloy/bullet lube with decreased accuracy as a result etc.

Too, in a carbine length bbl., the .327 approaches the .357 Magnum in velocities. I own and shoot a Marlin 1894 in .357 with good results...scoped with a 2.5x Leupold, it will give me 1-1/2" groups for five shots at 100 yds with Lyman's 358156GC and velocities ~1600 fps, a viable deer combination out to 75 yds or so...so no need for the .327 in my estimation...the shorter .32 H&R is plenty good enough as a woods walker/chuck sniper in the hedgerows.

Neither the .327 nor the H&R is a deer cartridge out of handgun or carbine so why bother with the more potent .327 which will just burn up more of my limited powder and bullet alloy...

But each to his own...it doesn't fit in my scheme of thing but may in others....more power to them....Rod

With the new cartridge/gun itch lately, I have been researching 327 Fed. Magnum revolvers. None of the vendors I've seen have any DA revolvers for sale. None of the vendors I've checked have any factory ammo (327 Mag. or H&R Mag.) and the same with brass. I think a 3" DA 327 Mag would be perfect for me, but a gun, ammo or reloading components seem "unobtainable"...

Keep in mind if you are looking at the ruger sp101 3", it has no sights, the one i posted a pic of does have adjustable rear sights, but those were discontinued by Ruger shortly after they became available and grab a premium, now they are fixed groove sights.

yep probably is a snubby 32 h & r mag, is you can find one. I went to 5 different gun shops here no luck finding one, and the ammo is non existant around here

There is the Charter Arms .32 H&R Mag:

The Undercoverette offers many of the quality features that have made Charter’s classic Undercover a concealed-carry favorite. A short 2-inch barrel and soft rubber, full-size grips make this 6-shot .32 H&R Magnum, a comfortable yet reliable shooter with the stopping power you want without the recoil of larger calibers.

Available in both stainless steel and aluminum.

Not to derail this thread but my prediction is a .30 Super Carry revolver using moon clips. Kinda the same round, somewhat. I also think that one of the reasons some makers particularly Smith &Wesson doesn’t get involved in some cartridges is because for a while they were the pioneers and stamped those S&W caliber inventions proudly on their barrel. .32 H&R anything doesn’t look good on a Smith. They did for a while and either they just didn’t sell or someone on the board put an end to it. Charter and Ruger never had an issue with that they were always all in on trends. Colt just got back in the revolver game so we will see. A Cobra in .32 H&R or .327 would be very cool. Taurus has a .327, they will chase the buck wherever. One with a 3” and adjustable sights would peak my interest. That and a Ruger Wrangler in 32 H&R.
