Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving. I hope that no matter what is going on in your life, you and your family can find something to be Thankful for.
Hopefully this thread will garner a bit of forebearance from the moderators; unless Art gets some bad turkey!
I wish you all well, and will add some words from my boss last night:
"I am back from the UH-60M IOT&E and off to the River tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I met some great Soldiers at the IOT&E -- some preparing to go back to Iraq for the 4th time. Pls enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday w/ your family. Perhaps a large prayer of thanksgiving is order for these Soldiers and their fellow Marines.
Thank you for your great efforts on their behalf. Happy Thanksgiving.
vr Steve"
SWMBO and I will be enjoying a sumptuous Thanksgiving feast at our younger daughter and her husband's house, along with my mom and his folks and grandma. May all of your Thanksgivings be as great!
And if you go out shopping in the "mauls" this Friday with family, be sure to be armed and safe, and very AWARE in the parking lots. This is also when the muggers know there's lots of easy marks out there, shoppers weighed down with bags and not paying attention to their environment. Don't be one.
I'm thankful that my daughter in law is cooking the dinner this year for us and for her parents! I did my brandied pumpkin pie and pecan pie, but that's all the work I have to do (apart from driving to Austin, LOL).
Get thee to the range! Everyone else will be watching football or sleeping so drag that boring old Uncle Ed out to the range and show him what "muzzle energy" means!
"How'd your turkey day go, Ed?"
"Oh, not bad. Wicked good turkey, though."
Or...
"How'd your turkey day go, Ed?"
"Oh, man, I got to shoot a .45! A real .45 and a shotgun and a .22 and I hit something! It was so much fun!"
45-70 Government. If you videotape it for everyone to watch.
Of course, now I'm picturing a new bubba cooking method, the "Five Second Tannerite Turkey".
*BLAM* (spray of turkey bits in all directions from a fireball) "Turkey's done! Come and get...uh..go and find it!"
