I like SNS Cast Bullets 185 grain coated SWC's, $94 per 1K. Nice for soft recoiling target loads. To me it is worth paying a little more for the coating to avoid the mess with plain lead.

They feed well in my 1911 and Glock 36 once I got the COL just right.

I've only shot plated bullets before so this is the first time I'm shooting lead. What is the advantage to the coating?

Coated bullets are easier to work with IMHO. They don't need lube & produce less smoke because of that. If a cast lead bullet is not sized properly for your bore, you may get leading, sometimes a lot depending on your load.
I have observed that my leading issues have disappeared since I switched from lubed to coated swc bullets.

I see that they offer coated without the lube channel. Is that the one u like?

Coated bullets cost less than plated. Barrel leading isn't an issue with handgun velocities and they don't make a mess when reloading like plain lead. I used to buy a lot of plated bullets and I still like them but coated are cheaper and better IMO.

I've always used coated with the channel. I've read reviews that having or not having the channel is a non-issue.

Good to know cause I just ordered 500 without the channel. I got the 200 gr swc with the new red coating. Any load recommendations for Bullseye, BE-86, or Winchester 231?

Hi drunken poacher. For your 1911 and Glock, what COL feeds the best

I've been loading Bayou Bullets, 200gr LSWC, Bullseye, I started @ 4.2gr, loaded 'em up to 5.0gr, kinda settled at 4.5gr, 1.245"oal. They chrono'd at 820fps.
