A few days ago I purchased an Uberti Walker from Cabelas. Quite honestly, prior to the purchase, I thought it would be one of the last places I'd look to for low pricing. All of last year the Uberti Walker was selling for $399.99. Then, as we moved into 2010, they raised the price to $419.99. This past Monday I was staring at a $75 off coupon from Cabelas and thought I'd take another look at Cabelas for my Walker. When I checked them out Monday I noticed the price was now listed at $399.99. Not a sale but rather lowered pricing. I figured that perhaps the Walker wasn't moving so they needed to go back to last year's pricing even though it was still among the highest price of any retailer. Well, since I had the $75 coupon, $15 in Cabelas dollars, a $100 gift certificate that I paid $80 for I figured this was the equivalent of $110 worth of free credit that I didn't pay a cent for. So I made my Walker purchase along with $200 worth of powder and primers. With the $20 HAZMAT fee for the powder I figured the remaining $90 worth of free credit made my $399.99 a $310 Walker purchase. Not too bad a deal.

While the Walker won't be here until tomorrow I was perusing the Cabelas website today and noticed that the Uberti Walker is now listed at $449.99! :what: I'm not sure what happened since Monday but a $50 jump over the price I just paid seems a bit nuts. Have they lost their minds over there?

Everything has gone up and BP revolvers and long guns seem to REALLY be jumping. Dang, I paid 170 bucks, 20 extra for left hand, for my Cabela's/Investarms Hawken Hunter Carbine. It was 330 a year ago when I looked out of curiosity. I just looked now out of curiosity and it's $450! I don't even think they offer it in left hand anymore. CRAP! I can buy a Savage 110 for that. I don't know if it's just Cabela's pricing as cap and ball stuff I've been lookin' at has jumped everywhere.

It might have been a sale before, or they may be raising prices across the board. I checked Howdah pistols, and the 20 ga. ones are now $600 instead of $500, though still listed as on sale. Glad I got mine when I did.

I did notice something interesting in the pricing. There used to be I believe, a $40.00 difference between the bare gun and the ones with the kits. Now the difference is $20.00 and in the case of the Walker, $10.00. Maybe they have too many guns with kits, who knows.

It definitely was not on sale. The price went up to $419.99 from $399.99 shortly after the new year. Then when I bought it on Monday it was back down to $399.99 and was not listed as a sale item. Now, 3 days later the price is $449.99. Sheesh, S&S Firearms up-ed their price this year too but only to $348 plus shipping.

I'm thinking that Cabelas made a typo and they probably want it to say $419.99 not $449.99....because that is just crazy otherwise.

Wow, check this one out. Someone posted on this one the other day, was 150 or so, spare cylinder was 42 IIRC, and the gun with kit was 189 I think. They upped the gun to 199, but the kit and gun is ten bucks cheaper on sale, the same 189 The cylinder went up 8 bucks or so, too. They must be raising pricing on everything. And, yeah, they must have too many starter kits. :D

Yeah, that's the one I almost bought. When I went it to look at it (the day before the sale) it was going to be on sale for $139 the next day.

I talked myself out of it because it's not really the gun I want. Even though it was a good deal.

Retail pricing is based upon the current resupply price - even if you bought an item at 100 with a retail of 150, and it sits on the shelf for a year and you go to resupply items and the new wholesale is 170 and new retail is 200, your new price, as a retailer, will be 200.

That's why you see stickers over stickers in old stores where they don't use barcodes. Barcodes has been a saviour for small retailers who don't have the personnel to change all those stickers

That is a bit bizarre, but their BP stuff always fluctuates pretty wildly in price. Good think you "pulled the trigger" on that deal when you did... Pictures when it comes in!!!

Wow even their 1851 navy colt in steel went up. It was 199 last year then it went to 219 in Jan. now it is at 249. Hollly COW. They must have to cover for the new health care plans.

The US$ is under attack by the Euro$, as our Dollar declines, all the imports are going to rise....
The Euro is falling to the dollar due to Greece going bankrupt and intentionally covering it up but getting caught -- today Germany refused to help bail them out. Stay tuned...

BTW, nice timing on your purchase -- good for you!

I bought my Uberti Walker from Gander Mt about 15 years ago for around $180 bucks I think. I've been thinking about cutting it up to make the worlds biggest snubnose then doing my own aging process on it to make it look 160 years old...

they are probably trying to get back in the black after your purchase.

:) It should be going down since the Euro is being dragged down by Greece, and then Spain, Italy and Portugal.

hogshead - I've read that the Le Mat's don't hold up well to actual use. Never even seen one in person though. But they are cool!

I was working at Cabela's when Italy changed their currency fron the Lira to the Euro. Prices skyrocketed! I wanted a 12ga. SXS Pedersoli but delayed my purchase too long. Price went up 40%!
