Has Ruger ever made an attractive, iconic firearm?

Most Ruger guns are as ugly as my naked grandma . That said a couple are passable and most are very serviceable.

I own an M77, a 10/22, a 22/45 Lite, and a Super Blackhawk Bisley, and they are all great firearms.

The Bisley is sort of sexy, and the All Weather Rifle M77 stock was cool in the 90's when I bought it.

I just thought about how I couldn't really think of any really attractive guns that Ruger made that wasn't based on someone else's design.

The No. 1 is certainly a contender, as are the Red Label O/U shotguns.

Is it wrong that I really like the looks of the very first revolver picture in this thread? :D I would love to run that revolver in a few USPSA matches and see how it stacks up against my 627 PC.
.

I kinda like it too! For different reasons I like this little 22lr as a neat gun just to have. E0D5A308-ED45-4D00-9813-25C82D520132.jpeg

The Mark series
Model 77
Security/Service Six
10/22
# 1 rifle
Shotguns

I don't know if any of these would be considered iconic bit they're far from ugly.

It's hard to find any manufacturer who hasn't copied design ideas from others and expanded upon them. The ones that haven't are typically failures. To disqualify the Standard, MKII, M77 because they used other designs as a base would also disqualify 99% of firearms made in the last 40 years. Maybe longer.

I think the blackhawks, super blackhawks, gp100s and the sp101s all look great. The no. 1 as well.

Not sure what the sp101 is trying to copy. I really like the rubber grips with the wood inlay on those.

You might say that the BHs and SBHs are copies of the SAA, but I think there's enough differences to set them apart and for what they are I would call that an original design.

I like the often chunky, no-nonsense looks of many Ruger revolvers in much the same way that I like the looks of a glock (and both do appeal to me). Their autos, though, could be a little easier on the eyes.

I always thought the No. 1 and the 77's were nice, but the 1's are heavy. What is not to like in a modified Mauser 98 Action and a classic stock designed by Jim Sullivan. The 77 has all of the old world design in a modern piece of art. But. alas, Bill would roll over in his grave if he saw some of the crap that they are doing to his designs now. I bought a 10/22 that was so cheaply made that I was ashamed to list it online. All but gave it away.

Yeah, that just look race-gun-ish to me. I don't particularly like the look, but that's very much the racing aesthetic. I'm guessing the OP wouldn't be too fired up about SVIs or Limcats, either.
