Have the triggers on the Walther PPS gotten worse?

When the PPS first came out many people said it was one of the best if not the best trigger on a striker fired gun.

When I handled the PPS at the LGS maybe 4 years ago I thought the trigger was very good. But I've heard a rash of complaints lately by a number of people who think the trigger on the PPS is awful.

Do the MA compliant guns end up on gun shelves outside of MA? Have other manufacturers introduced new models of guns with improved triggers so it just seems to shooters that the PPS trigger is not as good as it once was when compared to new models of guns? I'm wondering whats going on because the PPS that I've heard about lately is not the PPS that I handled.

When I was comparing the PPS trigger to the VP9 when it came out, the PPSs I tried all seemed to have a little grit as you came to the "wall" the VP9 didn't have.

I've handled a couple of the new PPS 45, it's trigger is way to light to consider carrying the gun with.

I never heard that about the subcompact PPS, maybe you are thinking about the PPQ instead?? This is the PPS with the 6 round magazine.

If you do mean the PPS then usually new PPS owners comment that the PPS trigger is a little gritty until a good clean/lube and then a few hundred rounds through it. My PPS trigger is nice now - a nice crisp about 6 pounds. I also removed the striker spring assembly and cleaned/lightly lubed it and the striker channel which is real easy to do. For me the PPS is a great performer and oh so easy to CCW. I usually have the 7 round magazine in mine.

I'm on my fourth PPS. The new one, after price reductions, has been by far my best. Best trigger, best out of the box sight alignment, best trigger. The trigger is heavier than a Glock, but I like it.

Ugh. The trigger on my PPS was terrible. Off the trigger gauge terrible. It was not one of the MA compliant pistols. Mine also wouldn't reset the trigger out of the box and could not be fired. I called the factory for support and was told I'd be paying for shipping both ways.

Nice knowin' ya Walther!

No one ever said that. The PPS has a very Glock-ish trigger, and is usually just a tad heavier than a Glock trigger. PPS triggers do tend to be a bit gritty when new, but will break in.

Perhaps you are confusing the PPS with the PPQ?

I drove 45 miles to a gun shop to buy one when they first came out...tried all five in the case and not a single one of them had a decent trigger...matter of fact, they had the worst triggers that I had ever pulled....put them all back and have never tried another.

So, no, I doubt they have gotten worse that the one's that I tried.

Keep in mind that there are two triggers for the PPS depending on which state they are sold in. A standard trigger and a heavy trigger that I know is sold in Massachusetts. The standard one is decent, very glock like. The heavy one is 10+ pounds.

Not sure what it's being compared to. For defensive gun with no real safety, I find it perfectly shoot- able and safe for holstering and carry. Better than DA/SA....not as light as Glock.

All of the new one's that I have tried starting from about 5 years ago felt bad . I hear they break in good though .
