How about some photos of the boomers? Rifles that take RIFLE cartridges of 375 and greater.
This Remington Model 30S was rebuilt with a Douglas 25" barrel and "dangerous game rifle" features. The cartridge is a wildcat that launches a .458" 500 grain slug at up to 2400 FPS. A real teeth rattler.
Inspired by Jeff Cooper's "Baby" built on a BRNO 602 I sought one for myself. But at the time there was an embargo against Czechoslovakian imports so buying this one involved going through a Canadian distributor and an American importer and bribing many government officials on both sides of the border. But it is a cool rifle.
A friend sold me this a while back. I have a real "Jones" for #1s so I snapped it up when he offered it. I have not fired any full power loads through it, instead loading to 45-70 levels for fun shooting. My friend did fire real 458s in it and he reports it kicks worse than my 460 (and he has fired it, too) and I find that scary.
There's a long story behind this gun but let's just say I have owned it for over 30 years and it's great fun to shoot. The 375x2.5" is a medium powered round but it is a 375 bore so it qualifies for this discussion.
This is a real oldie. A Greener Martini shotgun that a smith rebuilt into a 45-70 with a 30" octagon barrel. Will cut cloverleaf patterns at 50 yards (with my old eyes that's about as far as I can shoot with open sights any more) with any bullet you want to use.
A modern replica of an oldie. Fun but the recoil can be objectionable with heavy bullets.
