How about some photos of the boomers? Rifles that take RIFLE cartridges of 375 and greater.

This Remington Model 30S was rebuilt with a Douglas 25" barrel and "dangerous game rifle" features. The cartridge is a wildcat that launches a .458" 500 grain slug at up to 2400 FPS. A real teeth rattler.

Inspired by Jeff Cooper's "Baby" built on a BRNO 602 I sought one for myself. But at the time there was an embargo against Czechoslovakian imports so buying this one involved going through a Canadian distributor and an American importer and bribing many government officials on both sides of the border. But it is a cool rifle.

A friend sold me this a while back. I have a real "Jones" for #1s so I snapped it up when he offered it. I have not fired any full power loads through it, instead loading to 45-70 levels for fun shooting. My friend did fire real 458s in it and he reports it kicks worse than my 460 (and he has fired it, too) and I find that scary.

There's a long story behind this gun but let's just say I have owned it for over 30 years and it's great fun to shoot. The 375x2.5" is a medium powered round but it is a 375 bore so it qualifies for this discussion.

This is a real oldie. A Greener Martini shotgun that a smith rebuilt into a 45-70 with a 30" octagon barrel. Will cut cloverleaf patterns at 50 yards (with my old eyes that's about as far as I can shoot with open sights any more) with any bullet you want to use.

A modern replica of an oldie. Fun but the recoil can be objectionable with heavy bullets.

.458 Lott/.458 Win Mag CZ 550, about half-way through its customization. Yet to come were the shortened barrel, new sights (shown), new barrel-band front sling swivel, action job and scope. What it had already was full glass-bedding, recoil reducer, Limb Saver pad, replaced rear base, custom magazine floor plate.

Really? NOBODY wants to share photos?

The problem is that you're a tough act to follow with those beautiful rifles. I bought an AI AWM chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum recently but it doesn't meet your "boomer" criteria. However, all I can do is offer the two Marlins below ... both chambered for the venerable .45-70 Government. If I were to buy another boomer, it'd be something like the Kimber Caprivi chambered in .458 Lott.

How the hell do you even post photos on this site

Either use the "Attach Files" option when you make a post (navigate to images to upload to THR server) or put the images on a server somewhere (e.g. Photobucket, your own server etc.) and use the "Insert Image" button when you post and cut/paste the URL. Some do both in case a server isn't working or if they accidentally or intentionally delete a file from the server hosting their images.

Well...my 450 Alaskan built on a Browning copy of the Winchester 71 qualifies...

4502-1.jpg

As does my Browning BAR in 375/338...

375browning1.jpg

My double in 9.3X74R doesn't quite meet the caliber requirements...in the past I have also owned several .375 H&H bolt guns as well as a Ruger #3 in 45/70 and a few other 45/70s.

nice rifles. like looking at them, but have no desire to own one (except possibly a pacific rifle 8-bore)

my 375 h&h mauser, built on an oberndorf receiver. i still need to thin down the forearm a little bit before i finish the stock.

a table of monsters from one of our big bore shoots.
bigboreshoot1.jpg
if i rember right starting from left to right, 700AHR bolt gun, 700 nitro express double, 2 bore front stuffer, 600 overkill bolt rifle, titanium 416 remington bolt gun, 4 bore double rifle( i paid $50 to shoot that one), i think the next one was a 458 win mag and i don't remember what the last two were but they were 50 cal or bigger

Here are my "thumpers". After taking the picture I remembered that I had should not have been included the .338s.
Left to right:
- Winchester 70 in .375 H&H
- Savage 116FS in .338WM
- Ruger 1B in .338WM
- Marlin 444RS in .444 Marlin
- Marlin 1895 in .45-70
