Been wanting to get a .223 bolt, so have been doing a lot of research. I've pretty well settled on Tikka, since it gets so much good feedback, and because I am impressed with the one I already own (T3X Tac A1/6.5CM). What I really want is the same thing in a .223. But I can't find one in the USA and the LGS's say they can't find it as being available from any of their sources. 6.5CM, .308, etc are plentiful. So any links to a new one of these in .223 would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I'm not going to pay a premium either. I did see one for $3000, but given the MSRP is like $2250, that dog don't hunt.

I may end up with a Super Varmint. I know where I can get a new one of those in 223, and for a pretty good deal. Maybe put it in a tactical stock (MDT, XLR) down the road.

EDIT for clarity: I am looking for a Tikka T3X Tac A1 in .223.

This is an outstanding business to buy from. When you email them for a quote it will come out to be about $675.

Me I’d just get a Super Varmint and be done I’ve never had an issue with Tikka’s or their stocks

Great idea, if I could find anyone in the USA that lists it for sale. Seems like everyone that stocks the Tac is either 6.5CM and .308, but nothing else.

Not sure I have ever seen a TAC A1 in 223 in the US, but it may have been many years ago that it was.. Seen the varmint and super varmint. I have a stainless 223 and Varmint in 223. Sort of wish that the super was out before I got the varmint. Currently have a Super in 6.5 Creedmoor and like it a lot.

If no luck, I would pick up a Super in 223 and call it good.

Thanks for the input. I contacted Beretta this morning, who owns Sako and Tikka. That gun is not imported here. "Yet" is what they said, but when I drilled down on that, I got the "I don't know if or when they ever will.". Seems a couple of stores in Canada have them, at least on their website. But then you get into paying duty and shipping hassles I don't want to deal with.

That Super Varmint it looking better and better! ;)

Are you wanting the A1 because of the chassis or some other reason?

The reason I'm asking is because I have seen about three bare chassis in the last year on GunBroker or ebay for sale. Buy a Tika and 223 and be patient and wait for the chassis that's what you're going after.

I'd buy the Super Varmint and call it good. If you just have to get an aftermarket stock you could do it later.

Yes, I really like that chassis in my 6.5CM. Good idea to watch GB, etc for one to come up. I'd have to figure out if, say, a 6.5 chassis would work for a .223 though. I think the magazines are different. I guess I could test that myself, since I already own one.

Yep, that's the plan. Pulled the trigger, so to speak, on the SV this afternoon. Hoping it will arrive late this week. Wife really wanted me to hold out for the A1 version, but that's an empty dream in the USA apparently.

Got the Super Varmint in yesterday. Cleaned the gun and bore, mounted the scope and headed to the range. Zeroed at 50 yards first, then moved to 100. Here's its first 100 yard 3 shot group. I think we are going to be good friends. I re-zeroed the scope after this group. Looking forward to loading ladders with bigger bullets for it.

I do think I'll end up with a chassis for it at some point. My other rifles all have AR style grips, so the grip on this one felt odd to me.

With groups like this; I’d leave it alone and just enjoy shooting it!

Agreed. They take a bit longer to ship, but their prices are always really good and communication is good as well.

I bought my Proof Research CF 280ai barrel from them about 4 years ago, they were the cheapest.

I hear you, and that is a big part of the plan. But my AR does not like heavy bullets, so I have a bunch laying around from playing with those loads. I'd like to see if I can find great loads for those out this bolt gun.
