Help me identify these markings?

I have had this Yugoslavian M48 Mauser siting here for a while now, that I have been trying to find out what these markings mean.
Have heard lots of I am not sure, but would like to know for sure what it means.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

It's Serbian military sign. And this word - I don't know Serbian but I can imagine it's mean - "I'm on alert". I will check it out for you.

A buddy who served in the Balkans once drew me a picture of that same sign. He described it as the symbol of the Chetniks (also spelled Cetniks), a Serbian political group. I believe they're related to the folks who took the side of the Communists when the Croats sided with the Fascists.

But my Balkan history is hazy. You might get more views on the post using a more specific subject line: "ID these Serbian Mauser markings" or something suchlike. It's hard to attract the experts to your post unless they have a clear idea of what the post entails.

Not trying to pick on you at all. It just bugs me a little when folks post subjects like "I need help" or "Check this out". Then I have no idea what the contents of the post are unless I take the time to open it up. A descriptive subject line about something that interests me will draw me in immediately.
