how much velocity/energy the smaller glock 10mm loses compared to the Glock 20

It loses about 60-70 fps and about the same in ft/lbs of energy. Check out doubletapammo.com for some great comparisons. They have velocities for each one on just about every load they carry.

I voted G21. You already have a compact 9mm, so go to the other end of the spectrum and get a full-size .45. I carry mine every minute I'm in the house or in the woods.

If you have a 9mm I would branch out to the wonderful world of .45 You will be hooked and start thinking of the 9mm as the .22 of the centerfire world. Fullsize packing gun for field and camping.. .45 or 10mm (G20)

Get the classic G17 - the standard by which all others are judged and the original that started it all.

I'd go with the full size guns myself, at least with the first one. To me, the slight difference in size between the 17/19 sized guns doesnt mean anything carry wise, and you loose a couple of rounds in the mag, and that extra velocity of the longer barrel. When your ready to go smaller, just jump on down to the 26. There, you will see a more noticeable difference in size between the two.

Yes, good point. That's why when I switched from limited to production, I got the G22 (some in the group went with G35 but once you get used to shooting the stages with G22, difference became minimal).

Some that shoot 19/23 just run with larger 17/22 magazines for more round count. I shoot with 10 round G22 mags.

I am currently practicing with G27 to shoot the match with. Yes, a bit more snappy recoil and shorter sight picture, but found the Gen3 G27 quite accurate.

My G23 carries as well as I could expect in a Crossbreed Supertuck. It's still big enough to hardly give anything up to the larger G22.

I like the Glock compacts the best. You allready have enough weight to carry and the guns slightly smaller size is convenient. Even if you do get to open carry in the woods.

I carry fullsize G22 mags for reloads.

The only blue label G17's in stock are 4th generation. Are they really that bad or is it just a "They changed my Jeep's headlights to square!!!" type of thing.

First off, real jeeps have round headlights!!!! Secondly, yeah it is probably the same.

Normally I would say a G19, I think it is the best glock. If you want a full size though that points towards a G17 or G22. The advantage I see in a G22 is that you can find cheap used ones, typically police trade ins, all over the place. A second advantage is that you buy a 9mm barrel and mag(s) so you can shoot 9mm too if you like.

G21 story.

I took a friend shooting. She loved the G21. This was her third time shooting a gun in her entire life, mind you.

She warmed up with the .22 and a paper target. I thought she was just a bad shot, being a beginner and whatnot. Her (good) shots were all over the paper. But she wanted to shoot the big dog.

She's 5'0" with tiny hands, and she can't even pull the trigger on my PA-63, to give you an idea of her grip strength. So I drop the mag, leaving the one bullet, just in case something bad happens. Well, besides stovepiping the thing (only failure to date, btw. If that even counts? It was the only bullet! :)) - well, besides that, no worries. She wants more. So I set up a coke can and load a mag. Halfway through the first mag, I see she's consistently kicking up dirt well high of the target. So I say, "put the dot in the square, then put the dot over the can."

"Ohhh!" she says, as the lightbulb comes on. Doh!:banghead: And she'd been shooting twice, before!?!

She then hits the can 5 times in a row. I walked off the distance, later, and was surprised to see it was 14 yards away!

If you have the mitts for it, you might like the G21. My friend doesn't, and she still like to shoot it, even now that she has her own G19.
