Help with Ruger Security Six Please

Excellent, I knew you'd like it. I've got the Pachmayr Presentations on my 4" as well, they seem to protect my middle finger knuckle a bit better than the Ruger large target grips that I have on my 6" . If I can find some on Ebay I'm going to get another set for my blued 6" although I prefer the appearance of wood on blued guns.

Got the wood target grips...here's hoping they feel as good as they look when shooting

If the cylinder doesn't spin like skateboard wheel, it just needs cleaning. Remember that the cylinder is attached with a reverse thread so you have to turn it the opposite way to loosen it. Be careful not to use any tool that will ruin the finish on the ejector rod and be very careful not to lose anything that springs out. There is what looks like an internal tooth lock washer (KE-36) that is essential to reinstall in order to make the ejector spring back properly (ask how I know).

I think you did very well with your Security Six acquisition! Looks like new and will last you several lifetimes! I always preferred Pacmayr Presentation grips on my Sixes.

If you shoot very many full house .357 loads, you will regret wooden grips.

The rubber grips are much easier on your hands.

I have a feeling you may be right, I was surprised how mild the 158gn and 125gn self defense ammo felt with the rubber grips on, just hoping the wood grips are manageable...I love the way they look. But if the kill my hand, then the old ones will go back on

FWIW, back when I had my 4" heavy barrel Security Six, I preferred the factory Target Wood grips to the Pachmayr Presentation grips. To each, his own. Not sure why I traded off that Ruger, it was sweet. It was probably to fund the then brand new, just released 4" S&W 586. It was pretty nice, too. Of course, it too, had gone down the road.
I can make do with the 6" GP-100 I picked up a couple years ago.

Well...finally got out to shoot with those wood grips...you were right. Look great, feel terrible, pachmayrs go back on today
