A old charter arms explorer II went up for sale near me and got me thinking about the ar7 based pistol and the new more reliable maker of the ar7.
Would any of you be interested in a new explorer pistol ?
I think it might sell well today especially with its mouser broom handle looks and the new starwars movie (part of the reasons I kind want one any ways

I have an Explorer pistol with the gold finish. Its OK for what it is but I really doubt I would ever buy another. The only reason I have this one is because my Dad left it to me.

I do not see a need

The only advantage I could see of a new production pistol would be the ease of changing barrels.

It is cool looking, but that is about it.

The easy swap barrels could be intressting especially if we get that hearing protection act past. As for need there isn't a need for alot of things I don't need a bunch of black powder guns but I mostly buy them as they are cool

Change the word "gold" to "black", and this to a T what i woulve posted

I used to own an Explorer II pistol when they first came out. It was quite reliable, even with the old Ramline 25 round mags.
I currently own a new Henry Survival. It is not reliable at all. The barrel is basically a steel liner inside a plastic sleeve. I'd never buy another in any version. Too bad, I'd like to own a pistol version again. Just not the Henry rendition.

However, my 3 Henry lever action guns are flawless!

pockets,

There is an outfit that makes replacement barrels for AR7 rifles. I believe (heck I just opened another window and checked) ar-7.com.

A new basic barrel runs about $60 or one can get silly all the way up to a heavy target barrel threaded for whatever for about $90.

Give them a look.

I know. But should we have to immediately buy a replacement barrel for a new gun?
I've tried some of the aftermarket products for the 'Survival'. At least all of the parts I tried had good resale value on gunbroker.

Henry makes some wonderful .22 lever guns. As I said, I own 3 and they are great! They remind me of the Erma lever action .22 I had in Australia back in 1971.....probably because they are the same gun.
