Henry vs Remington Pump 22

I have been lusting after a pump 22. Any input on the Henry H003T vs the Remington 572BDL, other than the Rem is ~$100 more. I have been looking for a used Win 06 or 62, or a Rossi, but have struck out so far. I don't have a dealer to use Gunbroker.

I have a Henry pump .22 magnum (H003TM). The fit and finish is very
nice and it also has some pretty wood. It is very accurate at 50 yds.
I haven't had a chance to try it at a 100 yet.

In my opinion, the Remington 121 is the finest pump .22lr. They can be found used for less than the Winchesters and are every bit as nice, if not nicer. I had a 572, but was not happy with it, traded it on the 121.

I bought a used Remington .22 pump five years ago (Model 572). I liked it so much that when another appeared locally for $159 I could not pass it up. Both guns wear 2.5x Bushnell Banner scopes and are frequent visitors to the range.

I don't have a Henry pump, but their lever .22 rifles are a great value for the price. I suspect you'd be happy with either a Henry or a Remington.

I have a Model 12 (which is the previous model; design changes are almost indistinguishable) that was my grandfather's and could not agree more. If I were ever so unfortunate enough to be parted with this rifle, i'd look no further than the same model for a replacement.

Between the two new production models I find that the Henry handles better, and has a better fit and finish; additionally I prefer its aesthetics.

I bought a Model 572 about 20 years ago, SG's didn't have the BDL. I've shot this dude at everything, squirrels, grouse, Pd's, rabbits, a very accurate firearm. I have an inexpensive scope on it now, shoots hole into hole quite frequently, when I'm not pulling it, would buy again in a heart-beat!

The Henry sub-forum over on rimfirecentral is boring, everyone is always telling stories about how great their Henry is, or how Henry Repeating Arms sent them free parts, or how they called with a question and got the president, or how they managed to bork their gun and Henry fixed it anyway ... you get the idea.

I don't personally have a Henry pump, but my Henry lever carbine is obviously over-engineered for .22LR and runs beautiful if I do my part. My only complaint is the sights, and the Octagon Pump appears to have the nicer ones. I do fine with the basic sight on mine, but I'd prefer an aperture setup to match all my other iron-sight rifles.

It also sports a grooved receiver for mounting a scope, and Marbles semi-buckhorn fully adjustable rear sights with standard 3/8" dovetail slots enabling you to change sights if you choose to do so.

Yep, looks like you'll be good to go with sights, too.

Correct me if I am wrong but, doesn't the Remington 572 have a smooth bore? I would imagine that this could be detrimental to accuracy.

No, most of them have rifling, though a smoothbore variant is available. Accuracy would greatly deteriorate if using typical .22cal. rimfire in a smoothbore...the same is true of using .22cal. shot in the rifled barrel.

The Remington costs more because it is a better rifle. I don't view it as a good thing that so many people are familiar with Henry's customer service.
