I’ve wanted an Eotech holographic sight from the first time I looked through one nearly a decade ago. I was feeling a bit froggy this morning so on the way is an EXPS2-0 that I’m looking forward to.

Now the part I haven’t yet answered for myself; where it should reside. 16” middy, 10.5” pistol, or 7.5” pistol? Care to share your Eotech set-up along with the why?

I only had one EOTech, a 517 with a built in riser for lower 1/3rd cowitness. I only had (still have) one AR, so that's where it got mounted.

That AR is a 16" midlength with limited rail space and it had a Troy fixed rear sight. The gun came with a carbine stock, which I changed to an A1 stock at some point. The 517 worked just fine with either set up.

One thing is for sure, the 517 looks clunky compared to the EXPS2-0 you have coming your way. To be honest, my AR looks clunky compared to your collection. :D

Does a fixed rear sight bother anyone using a lower 1/3? My RRA also has a Troy fixed rear and FSB but I’ve only ever set up absolute with an RDS before.

My 6920 wears a EXPS2 hat.
While obviously lacking the Eotech name; I like, dare I say prefer, the Holosun 510. The reticle is cleaner, they cost considerably less, and have solar backup/assist. I think it works alittle better with a magnifier. Maybe just my eyes. If your looking for a lower cost magnifier, the SIG Juliet wins over the Vortex VMT-3T IMO. The 1st gen Vortex magnifiers were garbage optically.

Overall, I found myself preferring LVPOs as I get older. Someday I will have a 1-10x.

Fixed sights and lower 1/3 co-witness in the big window of an EOTech never bothered me at all. It's on different level compared to fixed sights with absolute or even 2/5 through a round glass RDS.

Here's a pic of my gun with the EOTech and the Troy that I've shown here countless times. This is the camera view, it gets a whole lot better with your eyes where they belong on the rifle.

For comparison, here's the view through a RDS I had on the same gun and sights with 2/5 co-witness, or whatever the split between absolute and 1/3 is called.

How does the height of the sight affect usability Skylerbone?

I was just curious if it did. Looks like @chicharrones has me convinced it won’t be a problem. It should arrive Friday, knock on wood so I’m gonna press my big boy pants and break out the Kevlar gloves  I bought my Operator because it was 1/3 the wait time and included 2 “free” accessories.

Thanks for the response. Don't have a AR, well have one but its a RRA Bull Upper and DPMS single shot lower. Being that I live in NY and all. I do have Mini's and sometimes mounting low enough for the stock can present an issue. Excellent sight choice. Be nice to hear how it works for you.

My sight arrived today and installation was as simple as releasing the QD lever, picking a spot on the rail, and closing the lever again. I grabbed the closest AR at hand of the 3 I was pondering and I think we have a winner!

So waddaya think, am I a door kicker or still a window licker :D I know the answer but it does look nice IMO. As @chicharrones mentioned the Troy fixed rear does not affect sight picture.

Packaged well in a securable clamshell.

Hard to get a good picture of the reticle but I verified it is daylight bright.

Excellent. Now time for the shootin'!

Did range day Monday to sight in a few scopes, Savage Axis in 350 Legend along with a new T/C barrel in the same caliber, and daughter went along to practice with her 6.5 Creedmoor. Even got dad out to fiddle with one of his new barrels and he’s still outshooting me at 73. Gonna try to get back out this week and test things out.

I'd probably move my EOTech back three or four notches, all the way back to the BUIs, but that's just me and my crappy geezer eyes, if it works for you, awesome -- if you can used to having it set forward, you're on track for adding one of EOTech's excellent magnifiers (I love the G33). I think you'll find the EOTech is one of the fastest, most instinctive sighting systems you've ever used (as well as quite accurate) -- there's a reason a lot of LE plus SF and NSW still employ them.

I generally run my RDS centered above the magwell so I figure it’s a good place to start. I’ll fiddle with it once I get the chance to test fire.

I meant to get back much sooner with results, my apologies for the wait. I was scrambling to get kids’ rifles zeroed but I managed to put a few rounds down range yesterday at 25 and 50 yards. The below target shows 12 rounds at 50 yards, from the bench with handguard rested on a pair of sandbags, with about 2 seconds between rounds.

Also my first attempt at using Sub MOA App which was dicey. I later dialed down for zero but did not shoot to confirm as kids were antsy by that point.

It can now be confirmed I am not an operator!
