Well my shoulder has been trashed and I can no longer draw a bow - so I am selling mine. This will give me a little money for a new rifle (yipee :) )So I figure I will get about $400 not a ton but will do with the exploding entry level market. My thoughts are to go with a Weatherby Vanguard S2 or a Ruger All American. Scope will be a seperate purchase - Nikon Prostaff. Thinking of maybe 243 or 270 not to sure. If I can get a sweet deal on a Browning A bolt I may go that way I always wanted a Browning. I dont have much interest in a Savage as I already have one. Gun will used for punching paper and animals. I currently use a Remington 700 308 to hunt with so dont need a new rifle just want one .

Firstly (only cuz I'm a misnomer Nazi), its Ruger American Rifle, not All American.;) now that I have that out of my system...

Of those you've listed, I like the Weatherby. However, if I may add another: Seeing as you have a bum shoulder, I would suggest to you the Tikka T3 in 6.5 Swede. It is a nice rifle, very accurate for paper or animals, soft shooting round with great BC. This would run you not much more than your bow sale, and you'd have a dandy all purpose rifle that will serve you in the woods, at the range, and do it accurately to boot.

Good luck, buddy!

All the Tikka's I see are like $550+ the Weatherby is $450 - I love the Tikka bolt. The Weatherby also seems to have a nicer synthetic stock. My left shoulder is the bad one I shoot righty not to recoil concerned. The Tikka also seems to use more plastic then the Weatherby makes me think in 8 years will I love it or will my gunsmith love that I have it.

I apologize about the Ruger - I like the bedding in it and saw it shoot a sweet group on youtube so it has peeked my intrest a few hours ago when I accepted I have to make this decision.

I just bought a tikka t3 hunter in 308 and it shoots great. Just sighted it in this weekend with federal power shoks and my bullet holes covered each other up, set up 2in high at 100 yards. The bolt/ action is incredibly smooth

No need to apologize. Tikkas IMNOTW are $400 used, not caliber specific, but you could find one owner than $550.

Another option is the Ruger MkII in .260 rem.

I faced the same shoulder problem and solved it with a crossbow. In Missouri you can get an exemption with a doctor's signature to shoot it during archery season. Unless of course you have the "gots to have its" for another rifle :D
