Hey city of Boston, where do I get one of these 9mm .44 blackpowder conversion 1851 navies?

If they did make a 9mm 1851 they wouldn't use a rebated cylinder. I doubt they will make one tho, the 9mm pressure is too high.

Also some GREAT advice below that pic to make sure your firearms are useless as...

Store your firearms in a safe or lockbox...store the key outside of the house.
Take all ammo out of the home.
Store your ammo with your neighbors gun and vice versa…

I did notice that 1851 was wearing a conversion cylinder, I would go for one in 9 mm! 45 Dragoon has been working on and testing 45 ACP in his open tops with good results, why not a 9 mm in an 1851 Navy? I definitely wouldn't live in or want to visit Massachusetts. Talk about infringement on 2 nd amendment rights, they seem worse than California!

For people who won’t dig for it.

That said, HK obviously hired people for their advertising that don’t even know what way the ammunition feeds into the firearm…not only that, not a single person caught it before it went to print.

Are you sure that is an 1851 converted from .44 to 9mm???
It looks original and 1851's were not offered in .44 until the Italians decided the make them!
However an original 1862 Pocket Navy Colt would be an excellent choice for a 9mm conversion.
And then there are these cute little devils in 9mm Kurz or .380:

Yes, those little 380's are pretty spiffy!! I have a local customer that owns one.

Sorry StrawHat, I read right past your observation! I concur!!!

No apologies necessary! I doubt the Pocket Colts or Italian copies could handle the 9mm. What happened in the image, my thoughts, someone grabbed a revolver and some ammunition and posed an image. No conspiracy, no diabolical plot, just a simple mistake. As firearms owners we tend to find fault everywhere. If I weee to go through this thread, I bet I could find multiple incidents of misidentification, improper usage of descriptive words or flat out errors. Does it make a difference? Not to me, I intuitively know either it was a mistake or just someone who is uniformed typing before they researched something.

What are your thoughts on a 9 mm conversion? Think Walt would do it?

Hey, why not. Smaller caliber gives you a more meaty cylinder. Main problem for me is bore vs caliber . . .
I'd have to have a barrel lined ( I'm thinking seriously about a pair done for 38's so I can "test" them!!! Lol).

C’mon Mike, just use a heeled bullet!

I think the reference is to the other end (behind) the trigger guard for what it's worth.

Anyone with Colt's serial numbering knowledge want to share what the serial number of this conversion can tell us?
Looks like SN# 17789 to me.
Any better eyes out there?

Well Duh, I missed that. 17789 on a real 1849 dates to 1860. I don't know how I missed that joint but it's now obvious it's not real. Maybe a Denex model.

Which someone turned in for cash from the cops… keeping Chicago safe from replica crooks using replica bullets in replica firearms! the impact on actual crime perpetrated by actual criminals on actual citizens has yet to be determined.
