Hi cap mag ban - change your carry

Rather, the founders allowed for a method to amend the constitution as needed so that it could be changed if needed.

i agree. That is exactly what Feinstein and Pelosi and the other's are trying to do. It is up to us to write our politicians and elected officials and tell them we will NOT tolerate them and will vote them out if they do. Unfortunately I would be willing to bet the good majority of people who are pro gun have NOT. I would be willing to bet the good majority of people even on this forum have not.

I carry a mouse gun anyway so no issues for me. It will change my home set up. I'll have to shift more toward shotguns.

BTW, I have already written all of my elected representatives at the state and federal level.

Nope still carrying a G19 at full capacity

I am a military reservist and a contractor to the government requiring me to hold a clearance. Unfortunately it is not worth my house, my wife and my vehicles and livelihoods to risk ruining by committing what may soon become a law. My protest will come in the form of the voting polls, which I believe is the most effective form of protest in a democratic society for something of this caliber. (The pen is mightier than the sword).

Obviously if the government turned around tomorrow and proposed something much more extreme like (I'm just making something up) a complete turnover of all food supplies that would be something completely different. But I doubt a ban of "hi cap" magazines would cause much of a ruckus overall in today's society.

I guess we do not see eye to eye. I am not calling you a dirtbag or suggesting you are a criminal but if you do not follow laws that would then make you a criminal!.

Its unfortunate that this may come to pass but the only ones we have to blame are the pro gun people who did not vote or have not written to their ELECTED officials and those that are too ignorant to see the reality of what constitutes a criminal.

I see a clash in Constitutional philosophy here.

One philosophy holds that any law that violates the Constitution is no law at all and should never be obeyed.

Another, which is the current prevalent thinking, holds that any law can be passed and must be evaluated by the Supreme Court.

The problem with the second is that the government almost always votes to give itself more power. This is not what the Founders intended.

I'd be curious to see a poll, which unfortunately I can't make from work. Question: how would a 10-round limit affect what you carry?

Answers:
1) No effect, I already carry 10 or under.
2) No effect, I own enough 11+ round magazines that will be grandfathered in.
3) Use same platform to a larger caliber.
4) Change platform to a smaller frame in same caliber.
5) Use the same platform in same caliber and buy 10-round magazines.
6) I don't carry.

I often carry a Sig 239, 8+1 and always carry a spare mag in a single mag pouch so no change for me.

Although I don't want to see the ban, it will have one humorous (for me) side effect, it sort of makes nearly all of the G-line irrelevant. :neener:

I rarely carry but if I did carry a pistol that uses a hi cap magazine I'd use the hi caps, Just because they MAY be outlawed for manufacturing doesn't mean you can't carry them as your edc. Even here in Ma I can carry a pistol with a hi cap on mt LTC with no problem.

Only if it is pre-ban. Here in MA all pistols sold now only come with ridiculous 10 round magazines. Make sure to check that. If there is a way to scr*w you they will here. I bought an M&P9 just to have a 9mm, you should see these mags. What a joke. So that gun has 11 rounds in it. Don't tell them though, they will pass a new law limiting mags to 9 rounds if they knew.....:banghead:

I've not seen any concrete proposals that would disallow me from carrying a gun with a mag capacity over 10 rounds, provided I already own that gun and the mags.

If in this hypothetical I were actually limited to 10 round mags it might well change what I carry at least some of the time. Sometimes I already comprise and carry a gun with a more limited mag capacity.

I wonder if the criminal types will turn in all their Glocks immediately.

And I'm wondering if the Birkenstock sandal wearing Patchouli smelling crowd calling for this silliness is ready to go door to door and demand people give up those evil guns immeadiatly?
I'm a big fan of calling them on this stuff. If you want to see a Liberal shrink up and fade away, thats a good way to confront them on it.
I'm not going to worry about my Hi Cap Magazines or my Glocks being outlawed and I think the debate is counterproductive, because it is a defeatests mentality that allows it to happen.
The next time you meet up with someone calling for a ban on Guns and Hi Cap magazines just hand them a bag and tell them to goo door to door collecting them.

Would that mean that the next popular thing would be a "mag blocker" that we have to install in our mags to limit them to just 10 rounds and "caught" with anyting greater than 10 rounds or without the "mag blocker" would be illegal? Just thinking about the stupid "bullet button" that California has.

I'd carry my two eight round Ruger 1911's

I own nine handguns.

Only ONE of them holds more than seven rounds.

I feel perfectly well protected.

As the saying goes... you will run out of TIME before you run out of BULLETS.

So.. practice, practice, practice.

And maybe (like me) carry TWO J-frames??

Not at all...

Im like the poster above me. I own over two dozen handguns and only two have the ability to carry more than 10rds.

I can get 10 round mags for all my para-ordnance pistols in .45 and 10 round chip mccormicks for my single stack .45's
