Now that spring is here the club I've been shooting 200 yrd offhand 20 rnd matches will now start a regular Highpower 200, 300 and 600 yrd match schedule.

As I looked over the spring/summer schedule a good portion of the weekends are dedicated to squad and/or leg matches.

Before I assume anything I figure I'd ask the experts first. I'm not exactly sure what are and if they are run in the same match or if they are two separate types of matches. Any clarification on what they entail would be appreciated. Hopefully this isn't to dumb of a question.

Thanks,
Troy

Not a dumb quesiton at all! Lots to talk about though...whew!

Ok, unless it is called a Leg or CMP EIC match (the two are synonomous) it is most likely an NRA Highpower match. Some will be team matches (often shot on the same day as the Leg match).

The NRA HP match will be your standard 50 or 80 shot Course of Fire (COF) with two sighters before each portion.

The CMP EIC match is the one where you shoot for points toward the Distinguished Rifleman badge. Even beginners should show up because when you get to the point of chasing points, you'll want beginners there to help you get them (the amount of people who receive ponits is based upon the amount of shooters at the match). Beginners: Please try to do a good job in the pits! COF is a 50 shot NM course with NO sighters.

The team match is usually a 30 shot match with standing, rapid prone and slow prone. Most likely it will be a four or six man team with or without a non-firing coach. These are some of the MOST fun matches you can participate in, IMHO. There is something about working with your friends to shoot a match and kick the other team's butts.

Steve, member Team First Strike, 2nd place 2002 Colorado Regional Team Match. Shoulda won it by three points if one of our guys hadn't fired a visible miss! Oh well...this year will be better! BTW, JC121 is also a member of Team First Strike and he didn't fire that visible miss either.
