HISTORY CHANNEL NOW SEEKING THE ULTIMATE MARKSMEN FOR SEASON 3 OF TOP SHOT!

Season 1 was a hit, and Season 2 is on its way. Now it's your turn to take a
shot at Season 3! If you are skilled with a pistol, rifle or any other
firearm, you could win $100,000 in prizes on the third season of History
Channel's electrifying competition show, TOP SHOT. Producers are looking for
anyone with unrivaled shooting skills and a big personality to take on
exciting physical challenges with multiple guns and mystery projectile
weapons.

It doesn't matter if you're a professionally trained shooter or a
self-taught, average Joe (or Jane!). As long as you're in good physical
shape, have mastered a firearm and can adapt to new weapons and demanding
physical situations, you could be America's next "Top Shot."

This season, we're also looking for MARKSMEN PAIRS: Husband/Wife,
Father/Son, Co-Workers or Siblings. If you and a close friend or relative
are excellent shots, we want to hear from you both!

Congratulations on a successful show.....my question for you is if the show is being picked up for a third season, why isn't the prize money being increased substantially? Reality shows make big profits because off street participants are paid next to nothing compared to shows that require actors. After taxes the winner would be lucky to walk away with $60K after doing the entire series.

Holy unsolicited solicitations, Batman!
If I wanted to be on a TV show, I'm pretty sure I could google said TV show.

Although I enjoyed the shooting competitions - the whole reality/survivor format is a BIG turn-off for me. The personality conflict schtick is tired and annoying.

There are some top shots on here! That is awesome. Good luck applicants!!

Guys, this show is good for shooting sports. You should support it. I get it, your cool and reality shows suck... but my wife, kids, co workers and boss all watch the show, love learning about the shooting sports and come back because of the dynamic personalities that the show has on it.

Good for you HC!!

+1 on that. I love the different scenarios presented and the competative aspect of the show but all the drama is annoying to the point of me turning it off in favor of the military channel.

granted this show may be good for the shooting sports....it may advertise and get people excited about shooting and all.....

i just dont like the premise of it......

if someone win/ loses a shooting competition, it should be because they are a good/bad shooter......not because they are someones best friend, or because someone thinks they are useless in the comp., or because someone is intimidated by them, or that person has a good/ bad personality, ect.......

if you get rid of all the survivor style voting.........then youll have a good show, heck, even toss in some more useless drama to make up for it.

I love the show. If you watched it through last season, I didn't see anyone voted off because of personal grudge, friendship, etc. They did a good job of picking most of the time.

Yeah, I got to agree with you. Solution? DVR or Tevo it and just fast forward through the staged little barby drama BS.

A show with a great concept centered around the shooting sports that has taken the all too common plunge into full fledged "reality" TV.

History Channel needs to bring back Tales of the Gun instead of going the reality route.

BTW I did not get picked up for season two so why would you think I would get picked up for season three. HA. Thats right, real world credentials dont get you anywhere in Hollywood.

C'mon now guys... don't hate. I say we should support the show. Despite how the contestants are portrayed and whether or not we like reality TV, it gets shooting and marksmanship portrayed in a positive light in the living room of modern Americans. We haven't really seen that since the good guys wore white hats and had six-shooters that never needed reloading!

This show is exactly what we need to relax the anxieties of the gun grabbers and anti's. Gun shots don't have to make the 6 o'clock news! This show is good PR for shooters and it deserves a better attitude towards it than it's received in the above posts.

Take "the high road".

I believe this thread is a casting call for the show. There's a couple of other longish threads critiquing it.

My family loved watching it. Hopefully it gets more viewers interested in the shooting sports.

OK, I get it, we should support everything that portrays firearms in a positive light. So is it OK if we skip the reality bs along with the commercials and just watch the shooting?

The drama part of the show is just the way it is; it is a proven method to get an audience. They're going to be good guys and villains. Finding the right balance between faux drama and substance will be the tricky part. Sometimes less is more. ;)

Improvements to the first season are simple: Get more people who could actually shoot. IMO, some of the cast in the first show had questionable skills. Spend just a little more time on the weapons and their history. It is the History Channel after all. Have more than one female on the show, only because I know there are a lot of great women shooters out there.

I approve. Sorry I was an A-Hole. I have been that way a lot lately. I have been under a lot of stress (Which ended with my State Practical Exam today....) and I hope I didn't tick anyone off too bad.

If there was a reality show for the most grumblebum, pessimistic old coot I think we'd all be in the running!

Actually I might win that one.

Guys, the subjective team aspect *made* the show. Similarly to tournament betting in poker, contestants had to decide to vote for a stronger team or less competition at the risk of more elimination rounds. If the show was *just* who-is-the-best-marksman, the complexity of the show would be immediately lost. And besides, toward the end of season one, all eliminations became performance based, and you *had* to be the most versatile and tactical shooter to win the competition.

I loved the first season and can't wait for season two.

The responses to this thread are embarrassing and that's all I'm going to say about it.

As for the application, thank you for the invite but after watching/enjoying season 1, I don't think I would make it very far in the game. Either way, I appreciate your use of media to portray a good light on the hobby we here at THR enjoy.

Amen.

Rather than getting on high horses and tearing the show apart, we should be patting the producers on the back for doing what they can with it. Not only have they created a show that portrays firearms in a positive light, they've done it well enough that there is demand for a second and third season.

Is it cheesy? No doubt. Is it overly dramatic? Definitely. But people watch it, gunnies and non-gunnies alike. It drives me nuts how we all whine and moan about how guns are portrayed in our media and culture, but the second a mainstream show comes along that non-gunnies can enjoy and get into, we set upon it like rabid dogs.

Long story short - if my mother-in-law (who HATES guns) can sit down and watch an episode, then turn to me afterwards and say " I guess that was kinda neat", it's a good thing. So how about we lay off just a little bit, huh? And if there's something you don't like, by all means email the producers and mention it. Otherwise, it's just useless negativity.
