FWIW, Chris Tilly is a pretty good shooter from what I hear (he's local, and IIRC a friend's brother, but I don't actually know him)...don't know much about the other folks
(save for what was said on the show).

:)

You need the application, a picture, AND a video of you telling why you should be on the show. You also need to be available for about six weeks for taping, during which you will be incommunicado from friends, family and work.

Do they really sequester the contestants from family? That'd be a deal breaker for me. Not to mention I currently only have a weeks worth of vacation to use (which is going to be used on a new arrival to the family). I'd like to apply, but this time in my life isn't going to allow it.

Yup, one week for the tryouts and then just over a month for the filming.

No phones
No Internet
No television
No leaving the house

They bring in food and snacks, you cook your own unless you come to an arrangement with the other shooters. They were lucky the first season, Chris came from a restaurant family and he did all the cooking

Those I can deal with. But not talking to the family wouldn't go over well. Do they do that so family can't look up any gun stuff (ballistic charts, etc) for the contestants?

They film this well in advance, they don't want word to get out of how the competition in going, plus it gets the shooters to interact with each other...it also raises the tension/stress level.

They also sign a non-disclosure agreement to not talk about the competition until an episode airs

I think Zak Smith should be on it. Not sure how good he is with handguns (or slingshots, hatchets, throwing stars, or other nonsense categories) but I think he'd be a ringer for rifle shooting.

top shot needs a new challenge, shooting an lmg, unsupported while standing :)

is there a minimum age for entries to the contest?

I'll second that notion, but I doubt he has the time/desire to go through with it.

:)

SIX WEEKS ? Who gets that much vacation time anymore ? I couldnt imagine the pile of paperwork on my desk after being gone that long, hell icant even take a WEEK off in a row without some disaster requiring my attention

They have to do their own cooking? Then turn to the shooting chefs on TV.

Anthony Bourdain - full auto fan, shoots animals and buddy of Ted Nugent
Ming Tsai - saw him go birding and explain his 20 gauge semiauto shotgun
Anthony Zimmern - blazed away with the Dillon Minigun and has shot animals for food.
Alton Brown - haven't seen him shoot but definitely a tactical knife fan.

Whose shooting cuisine will reign supreme?

But I'm not real big into drama, especially artificial drama, and I am too busy the company, my family, and competition schedule to consider it. Plus, who would refute all the wrong people on the internet?

Nice cover for what is no doubt the real truth of the matter:

You couldn't stand to be away from THR for six whole weeks. :p

See how easy that was?
I nominate those crazy fellers with the emboldened names. :neener: Of course 6 wks. later you'll not recognize the place (ww.thewindingroad.org?!?)... :uhoh:
