The way the paper makes it sound, the idiot was buying drugs, and the guy he was with tried to cheat the dealer. DUH.

They should "make it more difficult" to find a drug dealer (Who, I'm guessing, didn't get his gun through a NICS and a two week wait.)

I wonder if accompanying his buddy to a drug deal is being considered as a possible contributing factor, or if they're attributing the responsibility for this one entirely to the gun.

Cleverly designed poll, since the "no" vote is split between two choices. Actually, our side is winning by almost 60% to 40%, but the "yes" side gets to win anyway! Just like voting for a 3rd party.
Marty

We are winning

Yes, not strict enough 36.6
Good as is 24.8
Too tough 38.6

BTW, it is pretty strict in CT:(

MikeK, what poll did you vote in? The one I saw had three choices.

As of 10:45 p.m. Sunday, results are:

Yes, make it harder = 35.3%

Okay as is = 24.4%

No, it's already too difficult = 40.3%

Awesome Job High Roaders

These so called Newspapers make me sick. How much more biased can you make a poll like this? :barf: Posting it between a pathetic sad sack story, and the one legal permit holder that I can recall in recent history that murdered his neighbor. He could have murdered his neighbor with out a permit, and without a gun!!

Combining the first two options, we're down 56.4 - 43.7. Individually, we're ahead.
Try combining the second two options. We're way ahead.

Connecticut isn't Vermont or Alaska, but this is only asking about buying guns. It's my understanding that buying a gun of any kind in Connecticut isn't all that burdensome. The way I read the poll, the newspaper was trying to make a case for beefing up the laws on purchases. If that was their intent, they failed miserably at getting a vote of support.

Hawkmoon - I only counted the last question as a win for us. I combined the other two. Would any of the CT members like to see fewer gun laws there?

Gun sales
Do you think it's too easy to buy a gun?

31.0%
Yes, it needs to be more difficult
26.4%
No, the laws work well
42.6%
No, it's far too difficult

Total Votes: 439

THEY SHOULD BE PULLING THAT POLL DOWN SOON!

69% are saying the current laws are working and it is tough to buy a firearm. If the media was trying to say that purchasing a firearm was "easy" they have for sure failed!

Anyone wanna bet we will never hear about the outcome or an analysis of this poll?

If I find one, I'll be sure to post. There is a lot of gun violence across the state right now. Of course most of it is Thug vs. Thug type stuff. But the media downplays that of course. There is hardly ever any mention about firearms used for self-defence by law abiding citizens.
