i'm still 7 months away from being able to buy my USP, but i'm not sure which one i want to get.

what i pretty much wanna know is how much more accurate is the the fullsize compared to the compact, and also if the felt recoil is any different between the two. i plan on carrying concealed, which i know would be a big plus for the USPc, but i'm a large enough size guy to pull off the USPf concealed, although i know they're both large for their class. the LEM trigger is also sounding nice from what i've heard.

thanks

Recoil on my wife's 45C is a bit snappier than my 45F. But my wife shoots it just fine and she's fairly petite. Recoil on the 45C is, IMO, less than that of a 1911 Govt; there's something to be said about the USP's recoil buffer system.

Grip on the 45C is too short for me unless I use the magazine with the pinky-finger thingy (extended plate); I have big hands.

Grip on the 45F is too big for my wife to get a good handle on it: she can shoot it, but doesn't feel good doing it.

Accuracy with both is very good, although the longer sight radius on the 45F is of benefit at longer ranges.

It simply boils down to which one feels best in your hand.

I've shot both in .40 S&W side by side and I prefer the full size. Even the compact is a pretty huge gun and the milder felt recoil of the full size combined with the longer sight radius makes it the choice for me.

In my experience, the accuracy is very good with either. If you plan on carrying I'd go with the compact.

USPs get knocked for their size, but if you compare their actual (not perceived) measurements side by side with other guns in their class, they are the same size as, close to the same size as, or smaller. They may appear bigger than most, but they are not.

I own a few USPs in a variety of sizes & calibers. Each is very accurate (prolly more accurate than most shooters). I really like the dual spring recoil system in the fullsize USPs. It might be just me, but the system really woks to tame recoil. For that reason, I'd go w/ the USP 1st...which can be sent back to HK for an LEM retro fit by the way ($96 + shipping)

I like the full sized mosels a lot better. I had a USP40c listed for sale for about 6 weeks. No one wanted it so I took it to my dealer...he traded it and $100 for a USP9. Now I'm happy.

As far as your situation goes the best thing would be to go to a range that rents guns and try them both out. Good Luck!!

The full-sized USPs are noticably easier to control and more comfortable to shoot than their compact relatives. I find the compacts easy to control, but the larger gun is just a bigger pussycat.

Accuracy is a draw. The compact USPs are just amazing in the accuracy department. The only gun I have ever shot that seemed more accurate was a custom 1911-style in .38 super with a red dot scope.
