The OP here did decide to do some research and didn't have problem with Superformance, he found out it was not a good choice.
Looks like he got some good answers in less than a hour.
I don't see him saying it's name should be changed.
Off thread and I will leave at this and stay on THR.
The NEWBIE .444 reloader was annoyed because he could find no data so he just started low and worked up to a full case
Annoyed because there was no data....
Wow, I hope that person does not get annoyed having to weigh powder charges or waiting for people down range to get back across the firing line.
If researching reloading data is an annoyance he probably should give up reloading, lots of us find researching data fun and entertaining.
All of that because he thought all Hornady Superformance ammo used Hodgdon Superformance powder.
All of that because the new .444 reloader
didn't think it was necessary to do basic research, like check a reloading manual, consult the powder makers web site, inquire on a reloading forum, or do some internet research..
Glad he wasn't trying to shoot the Bullseye in a target and tried say 1/2 case of Bullseye, or uses his .444 for steel silhouettes and decided 1/2 a case of Silhouette would be a good place to start.
Ramshot makes/sells a powder called Magnum should I expect them to change the name because it would not work well in .357 magnum?
Lots of ammo says Magnum on the box does that mean Ramshot Magnum is used in all magnum ammo?
As a side note I have seen kids playing break windows in the past, some of them said, "it was my fault" (even thought they were quite young), some of them were well why did you put a window there.
When the second ones are adults having to pay to fix a window they will probably want baseballs banned because of the it has to be somebody else's fault line of "reasoning"
There will always be people who accept responsibility for their actions and those who choose to blame it on someone else, and want things changed because it is someone else's "fault"
The whole idea that's it's Hodgon's fault for the powder name just seems to indicate a basic lack of accepting responsibility to me.
If your not willing to accept responsibility you probably should not be reloading or shooting in the first place.
For example if I am at the range after a line break and the RO says the range is clear, I would never fire until I scanned the range, in the end I am responsible for my shot not someone else.
