Some time back someone asked about Hogue knives and my response was that I appreciated the quality, but had not seen anything I liked enough to buy. Well that has changed. I was in www.smkw.com a about 6 weeks ago and saw one of the Hogue DEKA knives in person. I didn't buy then, but have ordered one recently.
It compares pretty close to the Benchmade Bugout. Neither is a heavy duty knife, but both are a good EDC size with around 3 1/4" blades. Both are light and easy to carry. The Benchmade is a bit lighter at 1.85 oz compared to 2.39. But I don't notice the 1/2 oz. Both have good steel, SV30 with Benchmade vs CMP20CV with Hogue.
I like both, but feel the Hogue is the better value priced at $140 vs $127 for the Benchmade. The G10 handle material is worth the $13 extra compared to the plastic Bugout to me.
I see they have reduced the price since I bought mine, but are out of stock for now.
