I picked up a 2.75" SS Ruger Security Six a few weeks ago. The 1st time I went to the range with it, the web of my hand was sore after 50 rounds of .357 fmj and 100 .38 swc. I ordered a hogue mono grip and put it on today. Again I fired 150 rounds of .357 and .38...only this time no sore hand:D

Also there is a slight gap between the backstrap and the grip. is that common for this grip? Is there any trick to tightening it up?

Every backstrap is a little different, all you can do is mash the rubber where you want it while you tighten the screw, and hope it holds. Then again, it might be another reason WHY the gun is so good with recoil!
