since the holidays are fast approaching, i was wondering if you all would like to post up some great holiday gift ideas for us gun lovers. it could either be something you want, or something you plan to give.

please be specific and dont say things like ammo, im looking for (im sure most of us would appreciate) ideas we might not think of ourselves.

oh and can we not direct this toward a "buy hi cap mags and stripped ar lowers obama is the devil!!!" type of thing?

A cap & ball revolver

They are relatively inexpensive (as guns go). They can be bought as gifts without the paperwork hassles. They open up a whole new aspect of shooting to experienced shooters, and are an immensly fun way to introduce a newbie to the sport.

I own 3. The first was a christmas gift from my dad about 20 years ago.

Christmas came early for me... courtesy of the GF, who bought me a Crosman T4 and 1077 pellet pistol and rifle which means I can target practice from the rear deck safely and unobtrusively (for my neighbors that is).

Some days you just wanna practice, but you can't really afford the time going to the range. Or the weather is bad. Or...

a real cleaning kit not the cheapies but a true cleaning kit with brass jags, real bronze brushes, cotton patches and quality cleaners and oils

I asked for and got a Midway range bag last year. Tough construction, excellent zippers, a space layout that makes sense, someone thought about this product, before it went into production. More than I hoped for. A great gift, on sale they are ~$40.

I'm asking for my family to pay for me to take a CCW class. Seems like a gift that will keep on giving.

Cleaning supplies!
Cheap, require no paperwork, make great stocking stuffers. Just make sure you find out what they use first.

Knives. Of any type, depending on the person in question. Last year, I gave each of family members of an SAK.
I'm thinking of asking for a Benchmade 530 this year.

A goodie bag of oil, solvent, some bricks of .22 ammo, and maybe a nice quality .22lr to go with it. The holidays and .22's go together like peanut butter and jelly!

Gifts

A gun vise makes a good gift for the rifle owner, and simplifies cleaning/maintenance. MTM makes a good one, but there are lots to choose from.

Gun BOOKS are always at the top of my list.

Giving my boys shotguns for Christmas.....my fathers A5 Browning and grandfathers Winchester model 12. It's time....they are both grown now, have their own safes.....besides, I need more room in mine.
