Anyone have anything good, or bad, to say about their tube type red dot sights. Thinking of one for my newly assembled AR9.Mostly a range toy, but might use it as PCC in IDPA. I have a Just Right Carbine in 45/9 with a TruGlo holographic sight but wanted to know about the Holosun units.

Thanks

Externally they look about the same, but I know there can be internal differences of course. I have a Primary Arms unit on my Sub2K but I've not shot it much. It's my trunk gun.

Ive read good things about holosun.
The article that inspired me to build my AR pistol with brace was written by a professional bodygaurd for a vip. His gun wore a holosun. He swore by it.

Have the HS503C with 2moa dot / 65moa circle on a basic AR. So far, it's been excellent. I like circles for close-up, quick acquisition, however, ......

I also have a Vortex Sparc AR (2moa) which I prefer. Comparable in quality and price but I prefer its very easy access AAA battery and simpler shooter-facing controls (on/off - illumination).

Well, I decided on the Primary Arms Advanced 30mm 2 MOA Red Dot 14,000 Hours Battery Life BLACK - PA30MMRD-AD from Amazon. I also ordered the cantilever mount to go with it.
I considered a magnified sight, but I can always add a magnifier behind this one if I want to do so. If it were for a rifle caliber AR I'd have gone 2 or 3 power with the reticle Corpral_Agarn recommended.

Thanks for the advice.

I have a couple Holosuns and a Truglo Tru Tec... All three are very high quality, and I've had nothing but good luck with them. Long battery life and pretty high quality for the money.

Good choice. I have one and like it a lot. Primary arms also offers several different magnifiers if you ever decide to add one. I like the 3x ELR version with extra eye relief

I'm happy with the look, fit, and finish on the Primary Arms sight. Not too happy with the requirements for a 1/3 N battery though. I like sights that use battery available at Walmart. I can get them from Amazon, and I suppose one of the local battery specialists. But Walmart convenience is a consideration.
