Just tested some Hornady SST 125 loads, chronoed and shot into ballistic gel from my 10.5" 300 BO. Results below.
125 SST
18.0 grains H110
2073 fps
2.75" neck on gel
Permanent wound cavity 4x4x7 inches
Bullet penetrated completely thru 14" gel block
Recovered bullet in a bucket of old media, retaining 75 grains on its weight
I have seen some tests where this bullet did not expand at all, but they were usually at very low velocity. I'm pretty please with this for possible personal defense shtf loads. This load is very similar in all ways to the Fiochhi 125 SST factory load in terms of velocity, any thoughts? The image of the wood is the pallet the girl block was setting on, massive damage below the wound channel. (Shot was dead center of block, not low).
