Kaldor that looks slick but with mine 9mm or 45 acp cases fills up the tube before the first case gets around the shell plate. Now if someone could figure out how to make 357 cases load as fast that would be grand.

The issue with 357 is that it doesnt do a great job standing the case on end right?

That’s a good one.

3D printers are pretty neat. This is another good download for a bullet collator.

I printed this one for some hollow base 100 gn .355 bullets that didn’t function with my other collators.

Yeah, that project by itself almost talked me into buying a 3d printer. But, like I need more projects to do in the time I dont have... :)

How old of a press do you have? When I bought my press about 7 years ago I found that 357 would take forever to get into the drop tube. When I contacted Hornady they told me that they had a change which affected the angle of the case feeder - they sent me a complete replacement for free - and afterwards they feed much, much faster. Give them a call,

My press is only 6 maybe 7 years old and it won't feed .357mag either. I'll wear the motor out before it fills the tube. It will also feed 9mm like the OP said his would. I bought it for loading 9mm so I guess I didn't give the .357 mag plate a whole lot of thought except for disappointment.
I'm loading a lot more .357 mag on it now and, well,
I guess I will call Hornady also.

Dillon sends a washer that raises the collator plate so the taller cases don’t flip out of the slot and have more room to upright themselves into a slot. Might see if you can do something similar to see if it works any better.

J Morris,
I tried that once and maybe I didn't raise it high enough. I'll call Hornady and see if they have something that works better than what I tried.
If they don't I should start experimenting with it. It isn't doing me any good leaning against the wall on my loading bench.

I'm curious about the OP's device. I can't imagine my case loader with 9mm filling the tube any faster than mine does. My case loader runs once for every case loaded, once the tube is filled up and I maybe get one upside down case in every 1000 or more rounds. I haven't seen an upside down 9mm case out of my case feeder for so long I forgot about watching for them.

It's not about speed. What happens is the 9mm case, and others, will ride around sideways and cause all kinds of havoc.

BTW, @Kaldor that is awesome!!!!

Mr Morris what thickness is that washer that Dillion uses and do you leave it in even with the short cases?

My case feeder is 3 years old and according to Hornady it’s the newest one. It does load the 357 cases about half as well as say 38 which is about half as well as 9mm or 45acp. But then 44 magnum loads almost as well as 45 acp.
So are you saying they replaced your complete case feeder?

I'd like to know what they upgraded also.

From what I can tell is they sent him the new case feeder and upright that has been out for several years now. The old one was a flimsy shiny pebble surface compared to the newer one like I have.

Mine must be the newer type, it's not flimsy at all.
I like that thing Kaldor is showing in his post. Is it being sold or is it just the idea that is being presented?

They replaced the entire case feeder.

You would need to 3d print it. Pretty small part, shouldn't take very long.

It's stuff like this that makes me want to get a 3d printer

I'd do what @jmorris said with the washer. Heck, buy a couple, test it with 1 and 2 washers, see what works best for you.

I've often wondered why Hornady didn't make a feed plate for long pistol cases and short rifle cases. Slots in the plate would need to be smaller than the SR plate.

Yup, 9mm cases have a tendency to ride on top of each other sometimes causing jams at the drop hole on the case feeder. This solves that issue 100%. I've also had the problem with small base cases like 223 and 300 BO.
