Have any of you noticed any substantial difference/performance between the Hornady Critical Duty Luger +P 124 gr FlexLock vs the +P 135gr version?
I am more concerned from 3 inch barrels.

I cannot find penetration or expansion ballistics on the +P 124gr.
Yet, info on the +P 135 gr is everywhere!
Anybody have any intel???

Thanks,
Reg

I have a bunch of their 124gr +P on hand, it's on snappy side when used with small 9s. I stick to 135gr and up in my Hellcat, but I've a little Colt Defender 3" 1911 in 9mm, handles +P very well.

Do you mean +P 135 or Non +P 135gr?
Thanks for the advice.
BTW...ever shot any Remington Golden Sabers 124gr BJHP's?

Regular 135, not +P. Defense ammo is so hard to come by these days I'm not too picky and not really willing to experiment with the ammo I do find..haha I try to stick with Federal HST 150gr for micro pistols, but it's been tricky to find. I've never tried Golden Sabers, but have used Gold Dot 124 +P for a long time in duty pistols.

Tell ya what. You read about a zillion reviews, scour a ton of ballistic reports, and watch enough YouTube ammo tests that you can write a thesis....several names always are @ the top: Federal HST, Speer Gold Dots, Hornady,...

Both of those Hornady loads are very good defensive ammo, with proper placement you will not be left out to dry because the bullet did not perform as designed. In both of the Hornady demos I’ve taken part in, the Critical Duty performance was boringly consistent through the full FBI protocol and the Critical Defense was the same in modified testing (no car-door steel, plywood or windshield glass). I do load the CDefense rounds in my .38 +P snubnosed revolvers. :)

I have also gone from +P ammo in my compact 9mm guns to the 150 gr Federal Micro HST round. I found the HST to also be amazingly reliable, yet unabusing to shoot, in my small guns.

Stay safe.

Good stuff indeed.
Those 124, 147 Federal HST shoot amazingly smooth in my Shield/CANIK, yet Speer GD's are equally impressive.
Appreciate the vote of confidence on the Hornady loads, I just don't have the experience with them.
Let me share this...went to my Pops house in the country and ran about 100 rds of Remington Golden Sabers 124 gr BJHP thru my 9mm Shield & Canik TP9SFx---WOW!!!
They shoot great, tight patterns from 8 to 15 yds, light recoil, and NO problem cycling in either gun!
I found a crazy deal on them from a guy and in Utah.

Solid
Current issue is a Glock 19M

Solid!
One for the road.
Is the Federal Hydro-Shoks 115, 124, 135, 147 grain an inefficient ammo choice now?
Man, I hear a ton of bashing saying, "It's old technology, it will not penetrate, it over-penetrates, it won't stop at point blank range..yada, yada, yada!
Yet, at one time it was "Go to Round" and they still sell tons of them.

A bud just contacted me about an offer to buy 50 box 124gr Hydr-Shoks for $35 plus 10 shipping per box, up 10 boxes!!!---not too shabby in todays shortages!
Just like to hear some feedback on the Hydra-Shoks though...

I always found Hydra-Shoks cavity would plug with barrier material and subsequently perform like a FMJ.
