I bought 20 rounds of the above ammo (I don't wanna spell it again XD) in 45 LC. My question is, is thiss ammo safe for revolvers, or is it only good for lever guns?

Yes, it is safe in any .45 Colt chambered firearm.

If it were not safe in revolvers, there would be Legal warnings all over the box.
But there isn't.

I've shot about 100 rounds of it through my .45 colt revolvers, no trouble at all. Accuracy wasn't the best IME from shorter barrels.

The factory loads for 357 mag say it is for rifles only. The bullets stick out too far and will either not chamber or will poke out the front of the cylinder.

This is not true... This would be possible if the cases used were full length. However, Hornady uses somewhat short .357 brass so the .357 should still chamber in any revolver. I can vouch that I have shot it out of my GP100 without any issues.

Not a stupid question at all, you've just been duped by the marketing meth heads at Hornaday. Their entire self defense line of ammo (including the Lverevolution) is light and under powered, and the advertised 950 fps for that particular round is actually 860 to 880 in my chrono tests. If you stand this round up against a standard .45 Colt cartridge, you'll see they actually use a shorter case to accommodate their gimmick bullet. For a serious hunting round look at the Buffalo Bore "Deer Grenade" and leave the Hornaday stuff behind.

LR is pretty good ammo regardless of what it is being fired in. And safe. I just don't see why they make it for revolvers and semi-autos. But hey it sells and Hornady is laughing its way to the bank.

Leverevolution ammo isn't for Leverguns only, it's just that it's safe for leverguns because of the soft tip. BUT, at the price there's no way I would use them in a revolver unless I was going to use that revolver for hunting.

I haven't shot any in a revolver but a friend told me the .357 Magnum LVR ammo was dirty in his revolver. I can't verify this because it's second hand information...

LR ammo is a little bit dirtier as far as ammo goes. I fire it in my 336 and have a handload that is more or less identical to the factory stuff. However it is not as bad as eastern block/Russian corrosive ammo.

I know it isn't only for lever actions but as you pointed out, at the cost for LR you can probably do better for high volume shooting. But to each their own. I just always get a chuckle seeing what Hornady makes LR for.

I bought 1 box of .357 Magnum LVR ammo and 1 box of 30-30 LVR ammo. I tried them out and liked them so I bought the bullets and now I'm reloading both. I get close to the factory velocity with the 30-30 ammo using Hodgdon LVR powder and CCI LR primers. (don't forget to trim the brass shorter than SAMMI specs like Hornady tell you)

The whole idea behind the pointy red tip is to make a spire point bullet that is safe for tubular magazines. Supposedly this make the bullet more aerodynamic and gives better accuracy at longer ranges. While this may be true in rifle calibers such as 30-30 and .32 special, and maybe to a lesser degree in handgun caliber carbines, it does little if anything at revolver ranges and velocities. They are cute little buggers tho. And yes, they are safe in any firearm designed for that caliber.

I can vouch that I have shot it out of my GP100 without any issues.

Same for me with an SP101. I don't think you really get much benefit though when shooting from a revolver. Maybe from a rifle........

I have never chrono'ed any of their loads from a lever action rifle (I have a 30-30 and a 32WS). Do you know if their claimed numbers are up to snuff for their rifle loads?

I do not, my lever guns are all in pistol calibers, but knowing Hornaday I'd have my doubts.
