Anybody out there can get me some advice on ammo for heritage roughrider 45 lc I brought 1 last week. I went out to shoot it with 2 boxes Winchester superx colt45 255 grain. I shot 1- 25 rd box only 10 fire other 15 wouldn't fire. I tried the other box of 20 only about 8 fire out of the whole box. I went out an purchase some armcor 50 rds 45 lc 255 grain l put 5 bullet in the gun and only 3 would fire.I have try the rest of the box yet I have never had this problem with ammo except for my ar15, 223 ammo, have had a couple round that wouldn't fire in the ar 15 . I heard that these heritage rough
big bore 45lc are picky about what being fire in them .can anybody give me some advice

With two different brands both failing to fire, combined with the less-than-stellar reputation of the firearm, I'd be looking to it and not the ammo..

I'm not Heritage-bashing. I own two of their revolvers, and enjoy them both. They're both rimfires, though.

Less than half the ammo used actually worked. Your not going to find a specific brand where they all fire in this case. Send it back to heritage for repair.

The implication is that you are getting light strikes on primers. Check the primers and see if, indeed they have a smaller or shallower than usual dent in the primer. If so, you firing pin is not making good strikes on primers. It could be too short or there could be some dirt or inclusion blocking the hammer or firing pin from making good contact.

Its also possible that the mainspring tension screw is backed out. this screw in the front of the grip frame needs to be tight to to put the correct tension on the main spring to drive the hammer at its proper force for ignition.

Their centerfires are actually pretty good, made by Pietta. Does the hammer spring feel overly light? Is there much resistance when cocking it? Probably needs to go back to the mother ship.

Thanks for the info. The information everybody sent was helpful. Since the gun was New I made arrangement to sent it back for repair
