I just got an email from Powder Valley, they said that Hornady discontinued the bullets that I have had on backorder and they will be cancelling my order. If Hornady quits making the .257 117 RN bullets, I guess I will have to start casting something as they are the only manufacturer that I have ever used in my .25/35's. I will call Hornady in the morning, but, this is not the way to start off the year! If anyone has a plan for their 25/35 let me know, I will be interested.

I was afraid that would happen someday. I still have a box and a half or so, and don't really shoot it that much anymore.

Do you need any brass? I bought a bag of 100 at a gun show a couple of years ago, and probably will never shoot them. I'd be willing to sell 1/2 for what I paid plus postage?

Although I'd be sad to see it go, I already have a lifetime supply of them.
They are remarkable bullets if you aren't shooting past ~200-250yds.

I've loaded them in both .257Roberts and .257wby.
There IS a reason that they are still loaded in the .257wby. They kill deer very, very well. They hold together well and are typically accurate, even from 1/12 or 1/14" twist barrels.
They are soft enough in the nose to still expand at .25/35 and .25Rem velocities.

plus, they have that "retro" look about them.

My Uncle hunts exclusively with the .257 Weatherby and the box of ammo he bought with the rifle 30 years ago was loaded with the 117 Grain RN bullets.

Just my .02,

Speer did the same thing to me. I used the Hot Core 165 grain round nose for years and now they have discontinued them. I did find a box at a gun show for almost double the price so now I do have some for hunting only .They are a great deer killer in my Rem. 742 carbine. hdbiker
