Hey all, fairly new rifle reloader. I have been reloading pistol for about 6mos and have my 9mm loads pretty dialed in. I have reloaded about 350 rounds for my 223, I have the OAL & powder drop dialed in
I just started reloading 223 for my AR and have a question. I have a RCBS Xdie for loading this caliber. For those not familiar it is a sizing die that maintains case length during sizing/deprime so that trimming is not needed very often (usually 3+ firings before check)
So here is the question. I have been told the Hornady Unique lube does not harm powder/primers. This puts me in a unique situation of being able to go straight from resize to prime, powder drop, etc without the trim and tumble steps normal for rifle. I can actually run the 223 thru my press in one pass just like pistol.
I have a loadmaster press and 5 die locations. #1 Xdie, #2 sizer backed out to align for priming only, #3 powder drop, #4 bullet seat, #5 crimp.
Does anyone do this? My concern is the unique possibly fouling the chamber of the gun more than anything else, I know the actual process on the press works very well.
Thoughts?
