Hornady Unique case lube

Hey I am just wondering, If those of you that lube your cases, even with carbide dies, do you clean them in media after reloading to remove the lube? If you clean them with media, how long do you clean them in a tumbler? Thanks.
I use RCBS case lube, and as a final step in case prep, I wash the cases in hot soapy water with dish soap, and then dry them.

Coincidentally I was trimming some .45 Colt cases yesterday to use Hornady FTX LeverEvolution bullets. All of my dies are Lee dies except for my RCBS .45 Colt dies.
The cases were sized and deprimed. I had to expand them to use the Lee Case Length Gauge. Cases were sticking a bit in my carbide expansion die. I shot some Hornady One Shot case lube inside the expander and “Wallah!” things got a little easier.
For the next 15 or so cases it made easier. I spritzed the die twice for about 30 cases. “Spritzed” - that’s a word I never thought I would ever use. 😆
Anyway, later I came on THR and found this thread.

This is the first time that I have heard or seen this Hornady Unique Case Lube.

QUESTION: Do the cases need to be cleaned inside and out after using it?

I like One Shot spray but it’s nearly impossible to use if you just want a little bit of case lube.

I use the Hornady Unique for my bottleneck rifle loads, and don't clean it off afterward. Haven't had a problem yet, about 1K rounds.

I lube the outside of each of the first four or five cases, and then lube about every third to fifth case after that. I put a small bit of lube inside the neck of the first two, maybe three, cases, and then lube about every third to fifth case afterward.

I hate to say it's a feel thing, but it is a feel thing. I can feel when the sizing starts to get more difficult, and that's when I lube the next case. I can feel it on how the expander ball goes into the neck as well, and that's when it's time to lube inside the neck again. A little goes a long way.

Exactly, it's impossible to teach feel. Apprentice shop class , reloading , whatever.

I put 'em in a big Ziploc bag and "spritz" into it, then flip them around by zipping the bag shut and flipping it over a decent number of times before the One Shot dries. This works out OK for straight walled pistol cases going into a carbide die.

Thank you! That’s a great idea. I am going to try that.

You're welcome. FWIW, I think I'm standing on the shoulders of a giant, in that I got the idea from someone else, years ago. :)
My bag is an actual Zip-Loc brand, the kind with the sliding pull zipper and with the white space for labeling. "Case lube Bag" is written on the white area in Sharpie, that way I don't forget or some such. It's lubed thousands of cases by now.

I’ve tried just about every lube on the market, Imperial wax as well as the lanolin mix, and what I use now is 1 ½ oz of Hornady LIQUID one shot (not the wasteful aerosol) $5 at Midway, mixed with 12 oz of red Iso-Heet $2 at Walmart. The liquid does not affect primers or powder, no post-lube cleaning required. Just a couple sprays in a ziplock bag, shake, let the alcohol evaporate for 15 minutes, and reload. Leaves a nice slick (NOT sticky) coating on the brass that stays for weeks stored in another ziplock. How I came about this is another story, but everyone who has tried this agrees it works great.

I tried this method on .45 Colt brass and it works great. Thanks very much.
