The following info exceeds current published load data. Do not attempt to replicate. Failure to follow established safe reloading practices may result in damage to your firearms, serious injury, or death.

I have taken the 3N37 load significantly higher than 6.5gr and it proved safe for the most part. Above 6.9gr the recoil becomes punishing. At 7.0 the primers begin to flatten and the brass starts to bulge where the case head meets the feed ramp. The max published load of 6.5gr was stout but not punishing from a Shield. It was relatively pleasant to fire from my G19.

The best 9x19 performance IMO comes from 3N37, then N340, and then followed by Unique. Of course Unique can be a PITA to meter accurately. Unique is also much cheaper than the VV powders.

As always work up loads for safety.

Accurate Arms has two loads for the 124 gr. XTP with their #7 powder. Their "old" max load of 7.7 grains gave me 1163 fps from a 4.25" S&W M&P Pro, the new reduced max load of 7.3 grains in the 5.0 manual gives me 1149 fps.

This is at 5280 foot altitude.

Both loads shoot great in my two M&P's and two Kahr PM9's. I did get somewhat flat primers using Winchester small pistol, I switched to CCI-500 and they look fine. This was before they downgraded the max load, so obviously the 7.7 grain load is a bit warm.

I believe they still publish the old 7.7 grain load on their website, however it's now considered to be +P. I'm now using the 7.3 grain load extensively as a high performance 9mm 124 grain HP load with very good results.

I'm old, forgetful and feeble minded especially this early in the morning while still working on my second cup of coffee, as usual please do your own due diligence when working up loads in your own guns.

I have not tried 3N37 in 9mm yet (on my short list) but I have heard from a friend of mine that it works great.

Regarding the published numbers, I found the the load data for 45acp from the VV reloading manual to be extremely conservative, both for 310 and 3N37. The max loads from the VV data for 3N37 would not even cycle my gun.

I found load data in the Speer manual that was significantly higher (1.0gn or more) and tried that, which gave me chrono results that looked more realistic. I have since tried 3N37 in 40, and had good results there, so I am looking forward to trying it in 9mm.

3N37 hits a "sweet spot" for 124gr 9x19mm. It is good in 115gr as well, but it really is an optimum powder for hot 124gr JHP and just about any 9mm major power factor recipes too.
