How Accurate is Your New Model 70?

I have decided the Winchester M70 Feather Weight, Super Grade, and Extreme Weather are some fine looking rifles and am considering trading over into this model line.

I like the features, handling, and ergonomics.

But how accurate are they?

I'm thinking about the same thing. The Extreme Weather would be an awesome addition!

While my M70 .30-06 sporter is no target rifle it is plenty good enough for a light carry all day 300 yard elk rifle. The rifle shoots just about 1 MOA with factory hunting bullets, a bit better with handloads.

I have an Extreme Weather in 308. The B&C stock has been replaced with a lightweight McMillan Edge. It weighs just over 7 lbs scoped and shoots just like Smith357's. Around 1" with factory loads and .5"-.75" with good handloads.

I can't think of a better all around rifle than the new EW in a caliber suited for your needs.

Here are some loads fired from my M-70 Feather Weight in 6.5x55mm.

Good Morning,

I have a featherweight in 243. Almost to pretty to shoot, and the fit and finish is outstanding. After spending some time with her, and doing some load development, the last time at the range she shot a 1 1/2" group at 300 yards off of a bench.

I think I'll keep her, Ken

Thanks for the input. I went down yesterday and bought a new M70 Sporter in .30-06. It looks really well built and the wood is very nice for a "standard" rifle. The salesman pulled out 2 addtional guns so I could pick the best wood if I liked, before I even asked. Nice guy.

Looking forward to making up some loads for it.
